For the umpteenth time this season, a bad ball or strike call prevents a team from scoring what may end up being the decisive run of this game.

Powering & cooling #AI #datacenters remains too inefficient. Water demand for projected cooling needs is starting to exceed supply in more locations. Should #EPA fund #EnergyStar and apply its successful approach to data center energy and water use to save $Billions and achieve global AI leadership?
Four EOs for nuclear call for 400 GWs new nuclear capacity by 2050, doubling the 200 GWs in the Nov 2024 U.S. Nuclear Deployment Framework issued by the White House. At same time, Trump Admin has been hamstringing new nuclear. If RE+BESS+gas is going to bridge to SMR, consistency is sorely needed.
I can only think of beneficial economic reasons to maintain the EPA Energy Star program. Not the least of which is making the cost of appliance ownership more transparent and lower.
So, logically, I should have guessed Energy Star will be going up on the chopping block.
Read or heard some version of this five times today in business media and NY Times as pros try to say quotable things for their paycheck:
βWe may have reached peak policy/investment uncertaintyβ
I have a suspicion we havenβt experienced uncertainty yet.
This might be the fastest a President has ever burned through their honeymoon period of high approval ratings. Letβs see what happens when in the same day people get laid off / defunded, they canβt get Medical coverage, and their kid(s) comes home hungry due to no school lunch.

www.mlb.com/video/tony-g... great memories, my two favorite players growing up playing little league. I pushed the envelope stealing bases trying to run like Rickey and trying to hit with the discipline of Tony. Grateful to have been in the stands for many of their milestones. May they rest in peace

Anyone know how local policy commonly addresses excessively loud cars on public roads? There are 2 sometimes 3 different cars that drive by my house most nights between 11p to 1am, wake up my son, and then he comes into our room to sleep. Theyβve been waking him up for the past 3 years.
Great College Cup championship game so far! Thomasβ shot was fire
Started this starter pack with energy justice & climate justice folks. Let me know who I should add to it. go.bsky.app/HXiuKJ5

Someone please answer to turn this question into a string of dad jokes. Iβm not funny enough or I would start.
There are also serious answers of course.
Great to see you here! Love your newsletters and podcast. Loving bsky so far.

Great to hear from you @benpaulos.bsky.social and thanks for sharing this. 5-year warranty looks good compared to some other products that cost quite a lot more. Getting impression from product research so far that fewer bells and whistles may be a good thing for warranty, performance, and cost.
Reminder that DOE has a map of the status of applications for their Home Energy rebates. Might want to nudge some folks. www.energy.gov/save/rebates
FYI - I learned from my first thread on bsky that if you are long-winded like me and write the maximum thread length, the last 3 posts in your thread will not appear to a user unless they click on the 4th to last post in the thread. So don't bury the lead!
Iβm in the market for an induction range. Consumer Reports says β80 percent of the induction ranges currently in our ratings perform well enough for us to recommend them compared with less than half of the gas ranges weβve evaluated.β What induction range would you recommend and why?
Exactly
Yes. The ad revenue model seems to have genuinely degraded other social media, motivating people to talk and posture long after they ran out of things to say. To pay the bills. I would be willing right now to pay a $1 a month right now just to set the precedent.
Iβm open to other ideas as well.
Sweden
TY!
@tnorris.bsky.social have you identified a good legal starter pack for energy and climate?
The 2024 Global Carbon Budget was just released! Unfortunately despite hopes emissions might peak, both fossil CO2 and total CO2 emissions reached new record highs. I cover details w/ Pierre Friedlingstein (@PFriedling) at Carbon Brief: www.carbonbrief.org/...

driving customer program innovations, expanding the domain of who owns or cost-effectively brings 'firm clean' to the table beyond just the utility, making inclusive utility investment programs standard to offset the costs and increased energy burden, etc. BL: AI's promise doesn't solve this, we do
