Nice writeup. Do you see the Strong Towns focus on long term economic sustainability as aligned with YIMBY?

#SFWiFi | SF.gov
Free wireless internet access in selected areas and parks around San Francisco
Anyone know why #SFWifi in #SanFrancisco #California dropped from 39 locations, including Dolores, (as of September) offered to just 21? I can't find any press coverage or statements by the city. web.archive.org/web/20250925... @sfgate.com @missionlocal.org @sfexaminer.bsky.social

Authored by Sen. Scott Wiener and championed by YIMBYs, this is one of the most significant zoning reforms in modern California history. It's a bold step toward the future of our cities.

Game-changer for California urbanism! Governor Newsom has signed SB 79, a landmark law that greenlights denser housing near major transit stops. This is a massive win for creating more connected and sustainable cities.

Creator of pandoc merged a fix to my bug report in less than 24 hours!
I appreciate this philosophy professor maintaining a great piece of software and responding to bug reports in such a timely manner. He's awful generous with his time.

I learned all this and much more in a free workshop hosted by @beta.nyc on Monday. Fortunately, they're hosting ANOTHER workshop on Friday! If you want to learn the nuts and bolts of what it means for governments to be transparent and make data-drive decisions this is a great place to start!

It turns out this is just another step in a long long history of NYC's efforts to make governing transparent. For over 150 years they've published a daily newspaper called The City Record that gives a detailed view of what the city's many departments are doing.

NYC has a very impressive Open Data portal. Every single day, a new dataset of all the 311 calls are made available for anyone to to dig in and analyze. This is just one of hundreds of datasets available from the city. 🧵

Hi, I'm @mek.fyi and for 9 years I've run the @openlibrary.org at @archive.org, where 11M patrons world-wide rely on us to preserve society's library books, many which can't be accessed elsewhere. 🎲 Markets, politics, employment could change: I pledge to keep Aaron Swartz's Open Library OPEN 📖. Why?

A recent paper about NYC says upzoning reshuffles gentrification: some neighborhoods feel relief, others feel the heat. As such, a regional approach should be taken.
