Don't forget standing in front of the drawer the other needs to get into.

That should be in the marriage vows.

β€˜It means missile defence on data centres’: drone strikes raises doubts over Gulf as AI superpower Iran’s targeting of commercial datacentres in the UAE and Bahrain signals a new frontier in asymmetric warfare

Wow. The age we live in. In times gone power plants or desalination plants would have been the first targets.

Now it's data centres.

a passage from an article by Hunter S. Thompson

We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time."
Generals and military scholars will tell you that 8 or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history-which is no doubt trueβ€”but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are
doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed.
That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th Century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.

Hunter S. Thompson wrote this about a week after 9/11 and god he nailed it

Lol. Ludicrously specious take.

A grown man pretending that ICE agents are wearing masks for the same reason we were asking people to wear masks during a global pandemic.

Watching Spurs v Palace on TV with wife. Spurs get the first goal and then I say. "Right, now watch Spurs completely spurs this up."

They did not disappoint.

counterpoint!

the absolute fastest way to render yourself unemployable is to build your skillset around a tool that does your thinking for you, that everyone has access to, and that one company can change or take away at any time

U.S. sub sinks Iranian warship off Sri Lanka, killing 87 and expanding war zone A U.S. submarine sank an Iranian warship off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, killing dozens of sailors and dramatically widening Washington's pursuit of the Iranian navy.

A US submarine sinking a lonely, dinky Iranian surface ship an ocean away from the theater of the main conflictβ€”and 9000
miles from North Americaβ€”makes it pretty clear the US is fighting a general war, without the declaration required by the Constitution. www.reuters.com/world/asia-p...

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:

- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.

If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.

I find I am honestly unsure what the long term implications are of the United States demonstrating twice in three months that its new preferred way of war is to engage in bolt-from-the-blue decapitation strikes with no obvious follow-up plan.

My instinct is that it will not turn out well.

Social media created this nonsense idea that not exposing yourself to hatred is isolationist. Choosing to not spend your free time with bigots isn’t living in a bubble. I don’t need to know what’s going on at X. I won’t be smarter or more knowledgeable or empathic by being there. Neither will you.
