New year and some big personal news! π₯³
In March I will be joining the University of Stirling as a lecturer in Earth and Environmental Chemistry. I canβt believe how lucky I am to get to set up a research group in such a beautiful place, finally returning (almost) to where I grew up after 20 years!

There's a brilliant biogeochemist on it too :D
Haha sorry Pete! π
I'd particularly like to highlight this project: www.bristol.ac.uk/media-librar... I would do it myself if I could ;) it will combine heritage science, biogeochemistry, engineering, and the SS Great Britain are a great project partner!
Deadline for GW4+ PhDs with us at @bristolvolcanology.bsky.social is less than a month away. If you're interested in applying please reach out to the project supervisors ASAP. www.bristol.ac.uk/earthscience...
Itβs been a while since I was active here, but Iβm back yay with a plug for a new paper: pubs.rsc.org/en/content/a... When I first worked on this I didnβt understand why my very air sensitive siderite wasnβt oxidising in some tests, we show that it was being stabilised by organic acids.

Enjoying my first day back after Christmas - in the lab looking at cool metal samples under the microscope
Finally jumped ship from the bad place ππ
