TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A 12,000-seat indoor arena within Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex was destroyed in a US-Israeli airstrike today, marking the latest in a series of criminal attacks targeting Iranian infrastructure.
The strike also leveled dormitories and a newly constructed building belonging to the Cycling Federation, while damaging windows in adjacent facilities, including the complex’s swimming pool.
Alireza Sohrabian, president of Iran’s Rowing Federation, condemned the attack as a breach of the Red Cross charter, which prohibits the targeting of sports, educational, and healthcare facilities during conflict.
The US/Israel Epstein Empire have extended their athleticide to Tehran, destroying the national indoor 12,000-Seat Azadi Stadium Hall.
Monstrous.

Burn It All Down, the feminist sports podcast you need
A new season of what haters have called a "capitalist-hating, Trump-hating, NFL protest-loving group of far-Left women."
Our @burnitalldownpod.com Kickstarter ends in 10 hours and we are so close to reaching $29K (less than $1900 to go! what???). That number means we can make 7 episodes (maybe more, we’ll know for sure once fees are paid): www.kickstarter.com/projects/bur...

Florida places temporary ban on H-1B visas in university system
The move followed Gov. Ron DeSantis’ call for universities to eliminate the visas. University system decision-makers expressed a willingness to be nimble
Florida prohibits universities from using the H-1B program to hire “new employees” until Jan. 5, 2027. The change will not affect existing H-1B holders, according to system Chancellor Ray Rodrigues.

Thanks I’m sure that as historians of colonization and empire @sandraduffy.bsky.social and I have not read Hannah Arendt, nor do we have the capacity to understand complexity while also thinking violent US imperial action is never a good idea
What would do without men to explain things to us

Arendt says some racist stuff in that work that reasserts the “need” for western empire, he needs to reread it

And yes, the Iranian regime is violent and oppressive, and yet, I believe that the US/Israel/West’s intentions are not benign and it is naive and ahistorical to believe otherwise

Maybe it’s because I’m a colonial historian but so many of these white nation states seem to behave exactly like they did in the 19th century: ‘your leaders aren’t right for you,’ ‘we’re only killing you/colonizing you/installing puppet leaders for your own good’

They sent the email notifying everyone that she was fired during one of my classes. We had no warning. I just kept teaching, I had no idea…
But yeah, so much student panic. That we were having to deal with. We were trying to keep calm. That was just the beginning, we soon found

I think you are correct 😭😭😭 our board had in last year or so approved a big ⬆️ in the prez’s salary, almost 2x iirc (can find this online). Then they fired her last Oct, a few weeks after she 📢 cutting 30 of us. “we are still moving ahead with the cuts” leadership told us as students panicked

A tenure-track job is supposed to be a promise that if the faculty member meets the standards for tenure, the resources will be there to tenure them.

My uni also had a $10mil budget deficit magically appear (and disappear) when it was time to announce cuts. Wonder which Powerpoint they all copy and pasted from.

And wow, what a thing to be working at such a place where active labor solidarity is a thing. Where faculty see themselves as workers.
