The pedigree longhorns at the reserve I volunteer at have names. Despite being there 2 years, I only remember a 1/4, normally refer to them by number.
If it gets Joe Public engaged and interested in the role of herbivores,yes. If they just want to call a cow "Cow-nelius" and move on, no.
