Get one of these.
It's time to normalise MATOD (Medication Assisted Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder).
It's easier to prescribe oxycodone than buprenorphine.
These are preventable deaths.

Why not both?
Sadly, a planned family vacation to the US is looking less likely by the day. If we went, it wouldn't be a vacation. βΉοΈ

Once again, Australian election results prove how awful choropleth maps are for data visualisation.

"a faecal immunochemical test-based programme was non-inferior to a colonoscopy-based programme for colorectal cancer-related mortality"
-so an easier test, among invitees, was as good as a more complex one. Excellent news for Australia's over 50s at-home, mail-in, faeces screening testing program.
38deg here in Melb yesterday!
"I am so sorry that we have failed this little sweetheart: not just doctors, but all of us."
Yep
Wild seeing so many supposed Christians enraged to see a female Bishop stand up for the teachings of Christianity of compassion, mercy, standing with the downtrodden & welcoming the stranger. Those angry need to take a good hard look at themselves & ask what faith do you have?

Telehealth does facilitate this window into the context of my patient: the in-car seclusion from family, the cigarettes protruding from mouths, the children screaming/running in the background.
All valuable info, usually hidden from me in the clinic.

This article mirrors my experience, not as an Emergency physician but as a General Practitioner, a Primary Care specialist.
Much of what I do isn't "what's the diagnosis?" but "how can I help?".

I'm pleased the headline didn't mention "fentanyl". I hear that merely reading the word can provoke an overdose. Especially if you are a police officer.

Nice to see McSweeney carry his bat.
I do when appropriate. The vast majority of neck lumps are not health threatening.
To investigate all would overwhelm our health system.
These lumps shouldn't be ignored either.
See your GP for an assessment.

Bloody Qld. Beautiful day here in Melb too
Seconded. All in favor?
I delusionally thought this was satire.

Are GPs superheroes?
Not really.

Recent polling data shows that 75% of Americans now see addiction as a health issue, not a criminal justice issue. But our laws haven't evolved to reflect that, even as our leadership claim to agree. My latest for @theguardian.com. π§΅

This is really interesting, but completely focussed on the individual.
No mention of food security, employment, housing, poverty.
"Lifestyle therapy" can surely only work where you have favourable social determinants of health.
