Time for another #SimmondsWritingTips (busy day today so getting this one done early).
Let's talk about using all 5 senses to bring your descriptions to life. This is the next level to the 'How to describe characters' thread I wrote a while back.

Many scammers cheat authors by selling what looks like conventional publishing or marketing or agenting--except that it's a scam. But sometimes they just make shit up. Here's an example: a mythical thing called a "No-Objection Certificate", supposedly to ensure compliance with copyright laws.
The cover of the book "Blade of the Crown" by author Cara N. Delaney. The background is the ocean, choppy with waves. The sky is grey and dark blue with storm clouds. Silver ornaments decorate the corners and the top and bottom edges. In the foreground is a golden crown in a classic shape. A slender sword with an ornamental cross guard goes through it vertically. The title is written in a silver, slightly translucent font, with one point of the crown filling the "A" of "blade". The author's name is in white at the bottom.
