Backyard birding.
A rainbow lorikeet in one of my apple trees today.
This is where my bird photography all started:
Sitting in my backyard trying to get photos of the parrots that would visit.

As well as rainbow lorikeets, I get musk lorikeets in my backyard.

A tiny Caribbean islet has become a lifeline for a critically endangered lizard. The best thing about gang gang cockatoos is their permanent Santa hats 🎅
[COMMENTARY]
Many conservation projects quietly fail after launch. New evidence suggests over one-third are abandoned, yet often assumed to continue. An op-ed argues conservation must prioritize long-term commitment over the illusion of progress.

Wildlife traffickers continue to engage in illegal trade of #Spix's #Macaws & other wildlife from various countries, right under the noses of #CITES authorities. This raises serious concerns about whether #CITES is an ineffective organization, corrupt, or a combination of both.
The Brazilian endemic Spix’s Macaw has been listed on #CITES Appendix I as an endangered species, receiving complete protection from trade under this #UN convention for decades. This agreement includes 151 signatory countries.
