It is government enforcement of artificial monopolies on intellectual property which give these entities that benefit. End intellectual property monopolization. There are better ways to ensure those who innovate receive reasonable compensation for their efforts.
It is time to build out new support networks that are not beholden to an elite political class.
Infrastructure in general is arranged in a very poor fashion that makes it prone to failure, including control. Only when the average person is able to take meaningful part in infrastructure building will things truly change for the better.
We can build massive networks for self defense. We can train, we can defend, we can support. What we need is to build that infrastructure to make it possible to do on a large scale, on a regular basis, and make it accessible for the average person.
We are not going to win by trying to repair the system. It's expired. We are not going to win by simply burning down the old system. Then we have nothing. We must build the new system and let it subsume the task of coordinating society.
Give the community creative freedom and if there's a disagreement it can simply split and two separate canons can be introduced. If there's later reconciliation they can be reintegrated.
One reason why fandom can be so aggressive and toxic is because it's the only way fandom has any say in a system where corporations hold creative power thanks to the artificial monopoly created by IP laws and enforced by the police state.
Trump will be to blame when people start dying. So will we if we do not build out support networks of our own. Because we can, if we do not, then the blame will be on us as well, even if it is also and primarily on Trump for simply cutting these resources.

Small scale creators and and must leverage automation and cooperative networks to create local systems of production, centered around group interests. That's where guilds come in to connect makers with consumers, while helping to foster the needed skills and interests to ensure those makers exist.
The current stage of consumer choice is crumbling. While there are still a massive number of options available to the consumer, compared to say the pre-industrial era, choices are becoming more limited again, and access is declining.
