I'll go look for it π
It broke my heart a bit explaining to them they weren't the broken, weird, one for finding being ND hard, that it IS hard, it's misrepresented by so many other ND folks & apparent 'allies' to sell shit.
Wet socks ick π
But on a serious note, I can see the damage all this is doing to younger ND folks as well. My AuDHD teen was in tears recently saying they worry they won't be taken seriously if they share how hard they find it just EXISTING every day as AuDHD is meant to be their kooky superpower π¦ΈββοΈπ
agree with allll of this 100%. I'm so happy neurodivergence is more talked about and known about nowadays, but f%c& its cartoonification for clicks.
Without intending to diminish in any way the scholarship that goes into making this so clear and cogent, it's astonishing that something so "obvious" to a lay audience can be so wilfully ignored by a political and media ecosystem (presumably as it doesn't suit a narrative they wish to frame, sure).
the singer jay kay being weird in his big mental moving house
we don't talk enough about how this paranoid freak released virtual insanity in 1996. years before the average person in the uk had even sent a text message, he was dancing like a maniac in his big moving gaff, enraged to the point of song by faxes, teletext and encarta 95.

Ahhhh, multitasking π±π
I wish I wasn't stuck in traffic every Friday from 2.30-3.30, but I'll read along π

As a skint single parent to two teens with additional needs, online is the only type of writing retreat within my reach.
Comments like this prove that the attitude that writing isn't for the likes of me is still depressingly prevalent within literary circles.
Ableist bullshit, & classist too.

I'm not the only author I know who has a huge surfeit of ideas for books that we would love to write and send out into the world if only we had the time to write them.

My thoughts exactly.
View of windows and corridors inside of Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham
View of Birmingham suburbs surrounding Queen Elizabeth Hospital from the window of a private room on the top floor.
I spent enough time in Summer 2024 visiting a friend who was resident in a private room on one of the top floors of QEH for months, and every time it was just as jaw dropping - I felt like an extra in Andor pounding endless corridors for hours just to get to her.
Always head in the direction the universe is pointing you in!
I started listening to that podcast episode yesterday in the car, but my 14 Yr old demanded I turn it off as they had a headache & terminal case of boredom. I'll make sure I listen to it today π
A hardcover copy of My Work by Olga Ravn on my brown sofa, with a pair of yellow reading glasses, a notebook, and some sticky page markers in the background.
𧡠I want to post about this book AS A WRITER, because it's so bloody good.
It's a masterclass in throwing out ideas of genre & form. It's a masterclass in writing the self & motherhood unflinchingly, all the beauty & gore. It makes me want to write more & write better. Read it if you haven't yet.
Hello! I'm a writer! I'm awful at using social media for writer stuff. I even went on a short course once, but it failed miserably in helping me build an online writers' persona. Instead, I prefer lurking, pressing 'like' on whatever I like, & commenting once a month on a random post.
But... π§΅
Ouch π
Why the fuck are governments not speaking up and trying to get their citizens out?
One member of the flotilla has DISAPPEARED - Yvonne Ridley from Scotland. Unless thereβs been an update about that?!
Can we also stop supplying weapon parts to Israel, suspend trade and impose a sports and cultural boycott to try and ensure there's a Palestine left to recognise?
It's all so massively cringe ππͺ
I'm learning it would seem ... I'm learning online Vyzle is a poor facsimile of the drunk 2am Vyzle I know and love, with added humility and self doubt.
