There was MUCH less evidence for antisemitism from Mamdani than there is from Platner, but the fact that some Jews had concerns led Mamdani to do lots of Jewish outrage, meet with Jews, go to synagogues, and such. Platner is notably not doing that.
@ckoppelman
Computer programmer, progressive, Jew, mediocre ukulelist. Adams Morgan, DC. I like transit and urbanism, but not like *that*. Also like public education and public spaces. Views are my own. Tables are the DBA's. Two spaces after periods.

Thank you @smbccomics.bsky.social for the caption fix. I was SO confused but figured we were either going surreal today or more likely I was missing something obscure.
Makes you wonder how anti-establishment this guy really is, right?
Dean didn't disqualify himself. The press and DLC were looking for an opportunity to do it.
Well, you can see why the GOP was afraid to depose Hillary Clinton in public www.tiktok.com/t/ZTh7rGJFa/
I mean - look at the British partitioning of the Middle East and the Crusaders' treatment of Balkan people.
Eh. I think all of Europe and America has basically done this as well. There's a reason Americans were beating Sikhs after 9/11
Orientalism is a pretty old concept and American stupidity of what lies beyond our borders is nearly as old.
No. This is older than THE IDEA of Israel.
Armies, of course, are for putting in sleevies
Thanks
I mean... yes. That's what navies do.
What do you mean?
Many wars since the 1700s have involved multiple countries around the world. That is not what a World War is.
Also the orthodoxy of the time
Love it!
Like a guide to the fossils on the monuments and federal buildings?
The point of COPPA isn't to restrict children - it's to restrict companies' use of children's data.
Age verification, OTOH, is meant to restrict children.
James Earl Jones?
I'm interested in what the reply was
Corollary: "If you're upsetting people, it means you're on to something."
And for this, I was blocked?
And as for your point about people believing that some people of a nation should all be killed -- yes, there are racists in the world.
I'm not really sure what you're after here. It doesn't sound like dialog, though.
I gave you a long description of different opinions after you asked for help. And instead of thinking that maybe another person knows more about their own religion and culture than you do, you instead just go back to your own thoughts.
Instead of asking and engaging in dialog, you are basically just choosing out gotchas and deciding everyone Jewish wants to kill everyone else.
That's pretty old school antisemitism (like Crusades and pogrom type stuff)
As for antisemitism... You seem to be trying to look at your interpretation of cherry-picked parts of the Tanakh in order to decide on what modern Judaism is, what all modern Jews must think, and apparently how the government of a modern middle eastern country is making decisions.
Jewish thought is totally retconning. We have well over 2000 years of retcon. No one takes the Torah for what is explicitly written and we even reinterpret the reinterpretations. That's how our religion works.
Hey @nickgrippi.bsky.social - I thought you wanted a genuine conversation here. You asked for an explanation, I gave you several traditional and modern Jewish interpretations and what I thought.
What do you think? What makes sense to you?
There's a strong tradition of thinking G-d goofed
