" ... This package tackles critical gaps in the healthcare system by reducing drug prices, increasing patient coverage, and ensuring that New Yorkers have more affordable options and greater transparency for their healthcare choices."
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Carl Marcellino, former NYS Senator. Though we served on different sides of the aisle, I respected his commitment to public service, as a teacher and advocate for environmental protection. His legacy will endure.
We mourn the passing of Reverend Jesse Jackson. His voice shaped generations of leaders and inspired countless Americans to believe change is possible. We honor his legacy by continuing the work. May he rest in power, and may his inspiration keep hope alive.
As our state continues to reckon with how to more effectively follow through on our environmental commitments, the Senate Democratic Majority is advancing a legislative package that strengthens protections, improves accountability, and ensures our climate goals translate into real world results.
“I've been hearing directly from my constituents … about the shockingly high energy bills they're receiving. That's why today's bill package is so important. It includes meaningful reforms that protect consumers from these unjustified rate increases.”
“Today's legislative package reinforces New York's role as a national leader in protecting reproductive freedom at a time when Washington is actively working to roll those rights back. … Together, these bills ensure care remains accessible, safe, and equitable.”
“The death of Alex Pretti is another horrific example of the federal government bringing violence and turmoil into our communities. The escalating deployment of ICE, Border Patrol, and other federal agents by the Trump administration is making America less safe.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. challenged our nation not only to envision a more just society, but to do the work required to build it. As we honor and carry forward Dr. King's legacy, we must do so not only in word, but in action. #MLKDay
I was thrilled to meet with Mayor @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social in Albany prior to the governor's State of the State address. With the 2026 legislative session now underway, I look forward to working with Mayor Mamdani to stand up for all New Yorkers and make New York more affordable.
"In a time when the very foundation of our electoral process has faced challenges, it's imperative that we safeguard the rights of voters and ensure the integrity of our elections."
Merry Christmas!
I’m delighted to congratulate Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani on his historic victory as NYC’s next Mayor, the first Muslim, first Ugandan, and second youngest in our city’s history. His hopeful, unifying campaign for affordability inspires us all. We look forward to working together.
Today’s groundless indictment of Attorney General Letitia James is another example of The Trump Admin weaponizing the Department of Justice against its political opponents. Here in NY, we know AG James for her record of defending democracy, pursuing justice and protecting vulnerable New Yorkers.

"I don't know how we lost sight of what government does ... I don't know how ... Republican Congresspeople who can change everything ... how they can leave a city, a state as viable as New York and decide they don't represent the millions of people here ... " #StopTheShutdown
We must stand arm in arm to reject the failed policies of hate, of retribution, of using government to weaponize people against their own best interests while they lie about the problem. #StopTheShutdown
We will not be bullied into pretending that wrong is right, that hatred is love and that government is not supposed to serve the people. #StopTheShutdown
Today’s shutdown is the result of GOP chaos & dysfunction. Trump & his enablers are defunding vital services, threatening healthcare, & hurting working families. Democrats are fighting to keep the government open, protect healthcare, and put people over politics. #StopTheShutdown
Today, on the Anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, my thoughts are with all of the families who were affected 24 years ago, with our city that was forever changed, and with our nation that withstood one of its greatest tests in history. We will always remember and never forget #NeverForget

It was a pleasure to celebrate the opening of the 2025 Great New York State Fair in Syracuse this morning. The State Fair represents so much of New York’s spirit, who we are and what we grow, and is truly a reflection of our vibrant communities!
Great joining The Weeknight on MSNBC with Alicia Menendez and Symone Sanders to talk about the DLCC's fight to preserve democracy!

Trump’s Big Ugly Bill just narrowly passed the Senate, and it puts 1.5 million New Yorkers at risk of losing Medicaid.
The fight isn’t over. The House can still stop it. Call the 7 NY Republicans in Congress NOW and demand they vote NO. #ProtectMedicaid
"Today, we are building on our work with another strong set of legislative actions to better protect New York’s ratepayers ... The Senate Majority is ensuring that our utility companies are working in the best interests of the people who depend on them."
"Survivors [of domestic violence] deserve every resource and protection at their disposal on the road to recovery ... this package will serve as a long overdue and much needed step in assisting them in increasing protections and helping survivors to reclaim their lives."
“In this budget, New York has made the choice to stand with working people and to invest in people … we will keep investing in people. And we will carry that responsibility forward — because that is the promise we make to every NYer.” - via The Empire Report

"The Senate Majority is deeply invested in supporting our state’s farmers while simultaneously finding ways to create more opportunities for future generations to enter into the agricultural industry and help ensure our state’s food security." - @leaderasc.bsky.social
