As Felix put a record on, I started to look inside the jacket, it hit me. What I wanted was a collection of vinyl inserts without the vinyl (atm, anyway). It’s been a long road to get here & I don’t know what our future holds, but I’m so proud of what we’ve made.
I always knew I wanted us to feel like a mix of the floppy mags of my youth, whose pages we would rip out & tape on our walls, but blended with formal & DIY publishing styles, at home in a zinefest & a fashion or drag show & a bookstore.

Last August my editor and right hand person Felix Salmoran & I had a meeting at his house. I'd been thinking about the inserts of vinyl records, but more so, the excitement around the artistry of vinyl records. I was also considering the unsustainability of the traditionally printed magazine.

We want to make it abundantly clear just femme & dandy stands with Palestine & Palestinian resistance. We are devastated & enraged to see apathetic responses & propaganda from world leaders & the media to the genocide of Palestinians, as well as lit mags, orgs, & our larger writing community. This is not a “complicated conflict.” This moment is an escalation of a 75 year ongoing occupation. Recent uprisings are a reaction to decades of colonization, displacement, oppression, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing.
To condemn or equate Palestinian resistance to the violence of their oppressor is to paint this as a balanced conflict, which obscures the asymmetric war taking place & dehumanizes believers in armed resistance as a path to collective liberation. It is clear this is no longer about Hamas. Israel is collectively punishing the Palestinian people in an effort to further their settler colonial agenda.
It is lot antisemitism to oppose Zionism. In fact, it is antisemitic to conflate Zionism with Judaism. Israel is involved in oppression internationally, including an exchange program with Atlanta PD to train at Cop City. We firmly believe all oppressions are interconnected, so our resistance must be as well. We demand an immediate ceasefire & hope to see humanitarian aid reach Gaza. In the long run, we firmly support the decolonization of Palestine & an end to Israeli occupation.
We in the queer community are all too familiar with the notion that silence = death. To be neutral is to be complicit. For our readers and contributors who are wondering what they can do: Boycott, Divest, Sanctions: Starbucks McDonalds Disney SodaStream HP Puma Sabra
