The collapse after the Biden job boom puts this all on Trump - injecting economic uncertainty, dumb tariffs, etc. But you can be sure his courtiers will frame this as due to AI so they can say he's just our unluckiest President.

This is not good.
Earlier this year, Donald Trump took control of Venezuelan oil assets without congressional approval. The Administration then moved $500 million from the first sale through Qatar with no transparency.
I introduced a bill to investigate this shady deal because the public deserves answers.
The president started a war with Iran without a plan, clear endgame, legal justification, or congressional authorization. I will honor my oath to the Constitution and vote to end this war.
In a work place that gives a damn about all its employees, a boss sleeping with a staffer suffers much more immediate and severe consequences than just a polite request to consider not coming to work 11 months from now.
This quote from Johnson is rich considering his group of Christo-fascists would post the Ten Commandments in every school. And Mike Johnson would outlaw gay marriage if he could.
The seventh commandment is βthou shall not commit adultery.β

Itβs worse than that, and why I started with the Coldplay reference. A credible allegation of sexual harassment in the workplace is grounds AT MINIMUM for mandatory leave in any functioning office before a court has opined on the allegation.
Because they know people like him are being protected. That is the culture that Johnson is perpetuating on the Hill. The nicest thing I can say about him is that he is a morally vacuous coward.
And in spite of all that knowledge heβs choosing to frame this falsely as just about marital infidelity. That is a lie. It is offensive. It makes every woman who walks down the halls of the Capitol and sees Tony Gonzales feel less safe.
But the larger point here is about Johnson. He knows Gonzales violated House ethics rules because Gonzales admitted it. He knows how small and close knit house offices are. He knows what itβs like to be in an abusive relationship (see: his relationship with Trump.).
Whatβs more, IF they are brave enough to come forward there is virtually no way to stay anonymous which makes it hard to police retribution. (This is substantially why Maceβs proposal failed yesterday - it didnβt include sufficient victim protection.)
There is a deep structural problem with the way House employment processes work, specifically in the way that each individual House and Senate office is its own enterprise. We have common policies but no common enforcement. An employee who is harassed has very little recourse.
To put some more color on this: no one is calling for Tony Gonzales to step down because he cheated on his wife. Itβs because he had sex with a subordinate. That is a violation of House ethics rules and is a terminable offense in any functioning corporate office.
Youβll find more sophisticated understanding of the problems with interoffice sexual relationships at a Coldplay concert than you will in Mike Johnson's office.
To be clear, we need a lot more power and transmission. But the stuff that free markets want to build is the low cost clean stuff. The stuff Trump wants them to build is the expensive dirty stuff. Prioritizing Americanβs wallets shouldnβt be partisan - but it sure as hell is.
This is such a perfect metaphor for the moment we are in. A grid that is awash in low cost, clean power doesnβt need expensive, dirty coal. And the Trump administration is trying to force them to run the expensive stuff anyway. www.utilitydive.com/news/washing...
Dedicated to fighting the climate crisis, Sean Casten has introduced dozens of bills related to climate change and US energy policy. It's no surprise that he has earned endorsements from these environmental organizations.
Jeffries: "Article 1 of the Constitution provides Congress with the sole authority to declare war. Framers made that decision b/c they were concerned about kings plunging their people into unnecessary wars to pillage resources of others for the benefit of a tyrant and his family. Sound familiar?"
every R US Senator but Rand Paul owns this war, failed to uphold the Constitution and needs to get booted out.
One does not answer the question the way Noem did if the answer is "no".
βTo rule that the endangerment finding no longer appliesβ¦ youβd have to argue that the plain text of the Clean Air Act and all of the rules that created the EPA as passed by Congress donβt applyβ¦Thatβs a constitutional crisis in addition to an environmental crisis.β prospect.org/2026/03/04/e...
Donald Trump is raising costs and starting wars.

Immorality and strategy-free tactics is no basis for leadership. But itβs all we have out of this administration. Their bet is only that they can pass these liabilities onto the American people and will not bear personal responsibility.
The Colin Powell / Pottery Barn rule still applies: βyou break it, you own itβ. But having no plan beyond βletβs blow up the bad thingsβ unleashes regional, political and humanitarian chaos that we will all collectively own.
In todayβs classified briefing on Iran we received ZERO information relating to (a) preplanning for anything beyond kinetic operations (b) planning for what happens when the bombing stops or (c) imminent threats to the US to warrant an attack without Congressional consent.
You shouldnβt care about either of those things. Where we make things that last for decades once built is vastly less important to NatSec the fuel you have to use (or not) to generate every single kWh. To conflate opex & capex is just to shill for fossil fuel.
And I feel compelled to make the regular prebuttal to anyone arguing that wind, solar, battery, etc technology depends on overseas inputs: the US hasnβt manufactured steam turbine casings in years. Which are needed for every coal plant and combined cycle gas turbine.
There is no better way to insulate yourself from global oil & gas price volatility than to invest in technologies that generate useful heat & power without any oil & gas input. The Trump WH attack on renewables is a direct attack on your economic security.
Warnings to citizens to evacuate 3 days into this war, when airspace is closed, is a clear sign of ZERO strategy and planning by the Trump admin.
Now Americans have limited options to evacuate at an extremely dangerous moment with no government assistance. This admin is failing its citizens.
The Trump Administration's mixed messaging on its strikes against Iran makes clear that there is no legal justification for its actions.
I will vote for a War Powers Resolution this week to stop the Trump Administration's illegal war.
