Canadian Publishers Condemn Nova Scotia’s Decision to Cut Funding to Book Publishers - Association of Canadian Publishers

Canadian publishers are deeply disappointed by Nova Scotia's cancellation of the Publishers Assistance program. Support for local publishers has been reduced from $700,000 to $0, making NS the only province that does not invest in its own publishers. @nsgov.bsky.social publishers.ca/nova-scotia-...

This is infuriating. Aren’t we supposed to be telling our nation’s stories, defending our sovereignty, etc. etc.? Has Marc Miller done anything as Minister?? Anything?

New 'elbows up' just dropped: Protecting our sovereignty by destroying our capacity to tell our country's history.

Ask any Canadian historian and they will tell you that things were already extremely dire at Library and Archives Canada. Not sure it will even be functional after this.

You may laugh, but the Macbeths are a much better role model for a marriage than Romeo and Juliet. They discuss their problems (killing the king of Scotland), share their hobbies (killing the king of Scotland), and resolve their conflicts (by killing the king of Scotland).

Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre-Rogers v. Rogers The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre celebrates theatre art. Deeply rooted in the province of Manitoba, Royal MTC reflects and informs the community it serves.

My Manitoba people: @healey.bsky.social’s play ROGERS v ROGERS, based on @alexposadzki.bsky.social’s book, opens next week at MTC. This is not just a Toronto story. If you pay for a cell phone, buy groceries, or have a dad, this is one for you.

On this date in 1876, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church at King and Simcoe was officially dedicated. The four corners of King and Simcoe were known as SALVATION (St. Andrew's), LEGISLATION (Government House), EDUCATION (Upper Canada College) and DAMNATION (British Tavern).

On top of this, the Liberal government is cutting 70 jobs at Library and Archives Canada and cutting its annual budget by $22.1 million permanently.

So much truthful and authentic evidence of Canada's history is endangered.

Unlike the USA, Canada has only one source of federal funding for archives, the DHCP:

www.canada.ca/en/library-a...

The Carney Liberal government just cut the DHCP permanently.

I can't even begin to say how disgusted and angry I am. There is NO OTHER SOURCE of program funding for archives.
