And for the first time since 1995. Both Scotties and Brier titles were both won by teams based in Manitoba! In 1995, it was Connie Laliberte and Kerry Burtnyk. And in 2026, its Kerri Einarson and Matt Dunstone.

In 2017, Brad Gushue won his first Brier having already won a World Junior Title in 2001, and Olympic Gold in 2006 and went on to win World Title in 2017
Is Matt Dunstone in 2026 the next legend in making?!
St. John's could use more Canadian and World Curling Event hosting opportunities!
And St. John's once again delivers in crowning a legend in making as a first time champion again
In 2005, Jennifer Jones won her first Scotties Title in St. John's and won 2 World Titles and 1 Olympic Gold
This was also Matt's 3rd attempt at the Brier title
As a Honorary Manitoban myself having been born in Manitoba myself and lived in the province for 4 years before moving to Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area in 2003. Congratulations to Matt Dunstone and his team on winning Manitoba's first Brier title in 15 years and completing the Manitoba Sweep!
Some news to share with you from 2026 Brier. Matt Dunstone and his team has won the Brier on Matt's 3rd time of asking! www.cbc.ca/sports/olymp...
CARNEY: "We have not received any request for such assistance [from Gulf states] ... We're not engaged in the conflict. We do not intend to engage. What we are doing is dealing with the consequences of the conflict โฆ I don't necessarily anticipate those requests."
@todmaffin.com put a story about this on his YouTube a while ago:

There's a whole story to tell about US relocation and Canadian outreach in places like Nanaimo, it appears.

When you realize a Canada + Japan + Australia + Korea = alliance that would have more capacity in almost every way than the USA, it makes this changing era more interesting.
Whatever complaints I have about Carney, his effort to create a new world order without the USA is of generational import.

Got up early for a relaxing breakfast before thrift-shop-adventuring with cityโs parks & rec bus.
Got there to learn bus just broke down. Rescheduling, refunding. Meanwhile, Iโm thrilled for more time on weekend projects.
But I have a 3km walk home. A LOT of rain is coming this week. But for now:
UPDATE: Yesterday, I posted about hey.cafe โ a fully Canadian alternative to Facebook.
They got SWAMPED with people. More than 2x their user base in a few hours.
Doors are still open, but they're capping new accounts at 250/hr. If you get a "we're full" message, try again in a couple of hours.
This is my proudest video.
If you work in healthcare in the U.S., THIS is the video you need to watch today.

Signing off from the Olympics. What a journey itโs been.
Time for some rest. And then gearing up for Paralympics coverage. Good night sports fans.
THE FLAG ๐จ๐ฆ BEARERS HAVE ARRIVED
Steven Dubois and Val Maltais will lead the country into the closing ceremony tonight in Verona.
They won a combined five medals for Canada, including two gold, silver and two bronze.
Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier have arrived.
From a starry starry night performance to under the stars in Verona.
They finally got their Olympic medal in their third Games and are ready to celebrate with Team Canada.
And I do like those Mascots!
Appreciate the Olympic Coverage Devin!
Feel sorry for Canadian Hockey Fans. But could Canadian Olympic Committee tell Wayne Gretzky to never show up at our Team Canada Hockey Games again. Because I feel he single-handedly caused us to lose today (both Women's Final and Men's Final)
Tina and Milo to the rescue after that crushing overtime loss.
And just like that itโs over.
Weโll close this thing out in a few hours. Canadian athletes arriving soon. Iโll be interviewing them before heading into the amphitheatre. Hope everyone is taking care back home.

A son of sharecroppers, a Freedom Rider, a moral force in Congress, John Lewis taught us that democracy is not a state, it is an act. When we see injustice, we do not look away. We get in good trouble. And we build bridges despite adversity. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Congressman.
