A screenshot from the movie The Green Mile with the caption "I am tired boss", a well-known quote from the movie. Overlaid on the character John Coffey's face is the JavaScript logo. The image also has the Beer Driven Devs logo as a watermark, and the episode number (63) and title ("It's time to let JavaScript go).
#BeerDrivenDevs EP63: It’s Time to Let #JavaScript Go
Not a hot take. We follow the thread from #SupplyChainAttacks through culture, incentives, and governance to the uncomfortable truth.
JavaScript isn’t going away. But for us, the conclusion isn’t ambiguous anymore.

Excited!
Real apps demand real opinions.
At MAUI Day, @mattgoldman.bsky.social explores why unopinionated MVVM often leads to fragile state, inconsistent UIs, and long-term pain — and how deliberate constraints help teams move faster with fewer mistakes.

Screenshot of an email from Google with the subject "You're now using Gemini on your iOS device". The content of the email is onboarding/marketing spiel for Google Gemini.
Uh, I'm using #Google #Gemini on iOS? Interesting, that's not something I ever installed...
Yay! @steampowered.com Frame announcement! Now to wait until its obsolete before they release it in Australia!!
Anyway, I'm seriously hoping it’s not just me and that there’s broader demand for a higher-end module, because I’d love to get into the Framework ecosystem. Love that you can pull the GPU module out and go full ultrabook when you don’t need it. For now though, I can’t quite make the leap.
8 GB on the 5070 feels like a ceiling I’ll hit too quickly, especially in #VR. And to be fair, the HX370’s iGPU is fricken rad, probably the best we’ve ever seen in a CPU, especially at that TPD. The 5070 is a step up, maybe enough for some people, but for me it feels like too little.
Been circling the @frame.work 16 launch for a couple of weeks now, built up a cart several times and was 1 click from ordering. Only thing holding me back was the GPU module. As a VR enthusiast, I need more VRAM. If there was a 16 GB+ option, I’d have ordered one already.
For #MAUIUIJuly day 16, Thomas Sebastian Jensen has put together an awesome animated countdown timer in #dotnetmaui! Check it out: medium.com/@tsjdevapps/...

It's #MAUIUIJuly day 14! Almost halfway, and today we have a great post from John Bijsterbosch on creating #dotnetmaui components with SkiaSharp.

New post for #MAUIUIJuly!
I took download progress from “boring modal” to “overflowing beer foam” in the #BeerDrivenDevs app.
Silly? Absolutely.
Necessary? Not really.
Fun? 100%.
Check it out, and tell me: would you ship this in your app? 🍻

100% agree here. The Apple DevEx is awful. The docs are bad, the tools are bad, their approval process is opaque and temperamental. Nothing about the experience comes close to meeting the standards they demand of apps submitted to their ecosystem.
🦇 Holy MauiGraphics, Batman!
Part 1 of my Batmobile UI series is live — kicking off #MAUIUIJuly 2025 with a custom throttle control in .NET MAUI using Maui.Graphics.

This actually blew my mind. This is the future I wanted! I can't wait for this to become mainstream, and already have a bunch of ideas I'm going to submit to their prototype request form.

No specific suggestions but I will say your support and budget requirements rule out Snapdragon. I’d say go with an AMD option.
Again not much on specifics but I will say if you’ll likely find a decent budget priced workhorse from Lenovo.
A hand-drawn digital sketch of a handheld games console. It features a large central screen, left and right analog sticks, a DPAD, and XBox style ABXY buttons. It is shaded green with purple trim, include two visible purple shoulder buttons.
A screenshot of a CAD design for a handheld gaming PC. It has a 7 inch LCD screen, two analog sticks, a DPAD, four buttons but they are unlabeled, and two additional buttons on each side (not clear from the picture but these will be start, select, power, and turbo). The case is slightly curved and rendered here at 50% opacity, revealing interior components like PCBs and battery cells.

I made a hands-on .NET MAUI workshop! I built it for in-person delivery (still happy to do that if anyone wants) but it felt wasted sitting in my GitHub.
It’s free and online, if you’re curious about #crossplatform dev with .NET. check it out → mauiworkshop.org
