I argue that Merleau-Ponty is right, because how we are in the world - how we inhabit, produce, make sense of meaning - is characterised by dynamics that we can call synaesthetic. Synaesthesia sheds light on cognition more broadly in reminding us of the latter's rich complexity and idiosyncrasy.
