So TL;DR: I'd prefer an offensive minded HC for the #Jets. But the best candidate is gone. Aaron Glenn sounds like Saleh 2.0, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't root for him. At the end of the day, if the QB is right, winning should follow, even with a defensive minded HC.

If the #Jets do select a defensive minded HC - which appears most likely to be Aaron Glenn (Lions' DC) - I will of course root for him and hope they got it right. But everything I hear about him sounds like what we heard about Saleh.. But that doesn't mean he IS Saleh!

Of course you could get it wrong: there are countless examples of QBs turning the OC great (Daboll, Brady?, Bienemy, etc) instead of the other way around (Shanahan, O'Connell, etc.) - just to name a few recent examples.

Also worth pointing out that having an offensive minded HC safeguards against losing a hot, young, offensive OC to a HC position in the future - the mind is with the HC and not (all) with the OC.

As a #Jets fan, I'm tired of having a defensive minded HC; over the last 20 years, our problem has never been having a bad defense, but struggling to field an even mediocre offense. That's why I'd rather take a chance with a McCown or Coen.

Let me get this on the record: I don't think any of the head coach candidates this cycle are all that impressive, except for Ben Johnson (Lions' OC). But he wasn't interested in the #Jets job anyway and they therefore didn't even request to interview him.

Feel awful for Lions fans. Lions were the one seed and honestly, Super Bowl favorites, and probably beat the Commanders 9 times out of 10, but got caught on that one time where they lose. And to add insult to injury, they're about to lose their OC and DC to HC vacancies...
