On-campus food pantries available to college students across San Diego County Grossmont College has seen three times the number of students visit its food pantry since last week, according to reporting by CBS 8.

Pamela Luster, a member of our Equity Avengers, spoke on the importance of meeting students’ basic needs in and outside the classroom, noting how access to campus food pantries helps them stay enrolled and succeed.

On this very hard day, I’m choosing courage and offering an apology that is long overdue.

Student affairs professionals: Your commitment to students doesn’t depend on overwork. I was dead wrong. Working 80 hrs a week was my norm for all the wrong reasons.

I apology for my *loud* mistake.

When our students tell us they are struggling with basic needs, with their mental health, with childcare, we must listen to what they are telling us. We can’t guess what will help them be successful, we have to ask and then act on what we learn. #EquityChat

and we have to be intentional about putting equity-minded practices into action.
