Meh, if Judge hits the grand slam, they lose 10-5 and everyone still thinks Judge doesn’t hit when it counts. The Yankees never had the bullpen depth to win the game the second Luis Gil was removed in the 3rd. Weaver was going to pitch in this game, and now they know he can’t pitch again.

I think Gil was worth the risk against the Blue Jays specifically, with how little they K in general. Two runs from your fourth starter in the playoffs wasn’t a terrible payoff either.

I’m not trying to get into a historical debate, I’m merely pointing out these things don’t readily exist today. Or at least to my knowledge. But I’m actively hoping someone can update my knowledge with current examples.
