Change is possible: Seattle's Westlake Ave Trail before/after
The super useful Westlake Trail was carved out of a publicly owned parking lot. It was absurdly controversial at the time, with the loudest opponents being a “super yacht” marina. Now it’s loved and no one wants to go back.
Bid limits—prohibiting local governments from performing their own work over a certain dollar value—are a form of privatization that increases the cost of government.
This is just dumb. If the agency can't charge fares riders shouldn't be expected to have magically paid them.

Great news: Julia Reed is reintroducing the presumed liability bill this session (it was HB 1518 last session). The new bill will be slightly narrower in scope. If passed, drivers will be presumed at fault if they collide with a pedestrian or cyclist in a bike lane, crosswalk, or intersection.

I like how Mayor Harrell wanted to provide examples of his work on affordable housing in his latest newsletter but just sort of gave up.
The Race the L8 videos also make it clear that the drivers are losing too. We've created a road so bad that drivers in real cars lose to a toy car on the sidewalk.
