I seem to remember some research that encouraged car manufacturers to increase the bluntness of the front end. Something to do with reducing pivoting of the head onto the bonnet. Obviously wrong, but that combined with "aesthetics" has left a terrible legacy on our roads.
Although why do solar positive articles have to use the most extreme examples for their cover photo? I'm not sure anyone really wants that type of hillside obscuring monstrosity.

Why put the onus on 100s of thousands of individuals? Why not just "break the link" between the marginal gas price? Removing that should reduce everyone's electricity bills.

Well, our problems tend to boil down to: We sold off most of our state capacity to private companies that don’t give a fuck about anything except driving down costs and jacking up prices to the maximum they can get away with, so that means we have no wriggle room at all. It is Pay, Or Fuck You.

And a windy day in the UK is providing lots of low carbon energy. If we could "break the link" with war affected wholesale gas prices, then the cost of electricity would be much cheaper.
