Redneck crimper verdict: more strenuous than string trimming, but also faster. Not a perfect termination but at least 85%. Plants definitely die slower, bodes well for moisture retention. Crimping technique officially interesting, might just have to get something fabbed up
I've been watching a lot of the trendy regen vineyards &c talk about crimping for cover crop/ weed termination, but the crimp rollers are new enough to be cost prohibitive. Finally saw someone with a technique in my budget, a t-post on a pair of ropes, and gave it a try
