Well, for example, on Monday, I wanted to watch Superman 2025 for free. Google filters out those results. (Movie was the worst I've seen in about 10 years, btw.)
Google is a little homogenized. Sometimes I use Yandex now
The statistic that 90% of searches happen on Google is outdated.
The real number is more like 73% according to new research by @randfish.bsky.social.
@clairecarlile.bsky.social and I talk about Rand’s findings and more in today’s podcast episode.

THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!

She carries the fate of SEO for us all, little ones.
Maybe 18 for the footer is OK. Try to use no more than, like, 3 different font sizes on a single page.
Yes, and also .xyz is probably an OK TLD to disavow broad brush, if you have an otherwise compelling reason to do so.
News on the disavow front. It ends up you CAN disavow an entire TLD (like xyz, biz, etc.) This was never documented by Google but John Mueller explained you can actually do that. He also said that Google probably shouldn't document it since "it's a big hammer"... I agree & think that's crazy to do.
Video of ICE shooting 3 times into a vehicle, killing 23 year old American citizen Ruben Ray Martinez in March 2025.
ICE claimed his car ran over an ICE agent, but vehicle brake lights were on in the video.

I wouldn't. Designers can be almost apologetic about having text on their site, but it's important to remember that that's the most important content. Making it clear and easy to read helps them understand what you're saying so they can use their bandwidth processing its value instead.
Best practice for font sizes is about 17-23 on desktop, 16-20 on mobile.

I peeked at the site and I honestly strongly approve of your current font sizes.
Aw. Here's a good one of ours from this morning.
Donald Trump lowered our Flags to half-staff for Charlie Kirk but not for the 6 troops we lost in Kuwait.
My 46 year old eyes are always grateful for sites that use 18-20px fonts.
That's excellent to know; thank you again, John!
Thanks so much for the insights, @johnmu.com - I appreciate you taking the time to respond. :-) I'd echo the curiosity of the others on the format to disavow a whole TLD - is that documented somewhere that I don't know about?
@johnmu.com I know you're not a fan of disavow files, but bear with me. A client is getting about 50 links/week redirecting to this kind of page a week. Should I include them in a disavow file, or nah? They technically don't link to the site.

Maybe it would be a good best practice to just redirect pages with ?utm_source=openai to the canonical. I'm sure the end user would appreciate it that way for their own copy/pasting needs.
"That is an objectivable fact!"
It's also mandatory that I specify the gender of my next of kin.
I'm filling out a form ahead of a routine doctor's visit, and it wants bizarre information like "Next of Kin". It wants their name, address, and mobile phone. It doesn't ask for the home number, but there's a dropdown where I must specify whether they prefer to be contacted by mobile or home phone.

Marveling that "Home Phone" is a required field on this form when I have already provided my mobile number.
