Somehow I only found out today that Maura Higgins was on this season, and I’m suddenly extremely motivated to watch this show (have never seen a single ep). Love Tara Lipinski too
🚨 visiting LA this May for the first time in a decade 🚨 (work stuff 5/5-10, vacation stuff 5/11-?) if we’re friends let’s hang outtttt
Ugh this happened to me back in like 2021. Really unsettling and aggravating to have to deal with
Ask yourself further: will KPDH ever be available for streaming via the Criterion Channel?
Ask yourself: why don’t we get more Criterion releases for films produced & distributed by Disney? Or even, say, Dreamworks?
What’s interesting is that most of the major studios have had a tendency to hang onto physical media rights for their big hits of the last ~60 years, preferring to do their own deluxe disc releases. Netflix takes a markedly different approach, leveraging the Criterion imprimatur as it does the Oscar
DISTURBING BEHAVIOR (1998): this is just like Yale undergrad
Fond memories of the family reunion where my dad and aunt got into an epic yelling match over whether that doc was good (aunt) or not (dad)
Posted this reply before seeing the nachos bit
If this is rage bait it worked on me. Up there with my husband saying cantaloupe melon is “bad” because he went decades without experiencing one at the proper level of ripeness
VALENTINE (2001): we used to make trash with good bones
Before/after
Oh you’ve been “skinfluenced”? Get on my level (using Pantene Pro-V shampoo & conditioner in the year 2026 specifically because, as a short-haired child in the 90s, I fixated on this specific brand’s ubiquitous TV commercials and coveted the glamorous models’ long wavy locks)
I remember being privately annoyed as a kid when I went to a friend’s house and her mom served off-brand Mac and cheese. No substitute for the real thing
Round 2 with my sweet beautiful Toronto boys
Learning that Rumsfeld coined “you go to war with the army you have” in 2003 is like learning Allen was quoting Dickinson when he said “the heart wants what it wants”
Took my dad to the opera the other night, sitting in the “children of paradise” section
As soon as I skeeted it I realized “reference point” implies an existing shared knowledge base & thus doesn’t apply for a film yet to be released. “Data point” more apt
MADDIE’S SECRET also a strong reference point for the argument you’re making here
Just rewatched the great SVU where Noonan plays a “look but don’t touch” pedophile who counsels a teen boy about fighting his urges. Hard pressed to think of another actor who could have pulled the character off; Noonan made it sing
I can confidently say that no movie destroyed me as deftly as ANOMALISA and I’m pretty sure no other movie ever will and that is 100% due to Tom Noonan’s performance and I am scared to death to ever watch it again (for the fourth time, let’s be clear) to explain why. Lord on high a performance.
Help me Fred Hechinger you’re my only hope
If you haven’t already seen it, please seek out Tom Noonan’s debut feature WHAT HAPPENED WAS… One of the great American independent films of the ’90s directed by one of the very best American character actors ever.
The TIFF P&I was incredibly moving to me personally
It’s because Keira Knightley sucks (haven’t seen the movie)
Inaudible Tara Lipinski Botox ad on the bar tv got me feeling temporally vertiginous

“You are now a fallen woman.”
“Thank god!!”
