POLITICO Pro: Starmer’s answer to Iran energy shock: Go green faster The U.K. is doubling down on clean energy, not despite the Iran crisis — but because of it.

What this guy said.

“The events of recent days are yet another reminder that the only route to energy security and sovereignty for the U.K. is to get off our dependence on fossil fuel markets, whose prices we do not control, and onto clean homegrown power that we do."

I feel seen!

Telnet. VMS. Token ring networks. BBS. Gopher. Logo.

It all was wonderful and I made so many friends. Some of whom I still cherish today.

Cermak supposedly hated FDR, and some think he actually said “I wish it was me instead of you.”

One of Chicago’s best stories.

PageMaker pioneer Paul Brainerd, 1947-2026: Aldus founder devoted his second chapter to the planet Paul Brainerd, who coined the term "desktop publishing" and built Aldus Corporation's PageMaker into one of the defining programs of the personal computer era, died Sunday at his home on Bainbridge Is...

I can't think of a software package that changed my life more than Pagemaker. I spend endless college nights on it, prepping our tiny @clarkuniversity.bsky.social paper that encouraged me to dream of bigger things.
RIP Paul Brainerd. You changed the world for better.

I talk to policymakers around the US and most have been convinced behind the meter will work. Data center developers have been telling them it can. But nobody’s done it yet. Who will be left holding the bag when their plans don’t work out?

Final EIA-860 is out, and 2025 really did it: 54 GW of new U.S. electric capacity, 96% clean. Solar again carries the offense, and we built more storage in 2025 than the cumulative total through 2023. More and more and more additions... but also record low retirements.

This @blockclubchi.bsky.social story about Black Chicago cocktail lounges is FANTASTIC. Thank you for uplifting this culture for us. (Just for the pix alone!)

The US immigrant population generated more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government every year from 1994 to 2023.

The Cato study provides the first-ever 30-year analysis of the fiscal effects of immigration on government budgets.

Josh Safdie Says 'Marty Supreme' Originally Ended With Kevin O'Leary As A Vampire Who Bites Timothée Chalamet Josh Safdie reveals that an original ending to 'Marty Supreme' featured Kevin O'Learly as a vampire biting Marty at a concert in the 1980s.

I saw Marty Supreme this weekend and considering how bonkers the movie is, this possible ending makes a lotta sense.

For me the "news" is less interesting than the data. There's lots of "knowing" this, but without hard data it's hard to move policymakers. And hard data on this particular issue is hard to come by on a regular basis. But if you know an on-demand solution, I'd love to learn about it!
