Yyyyeah, it's not good. Starts out fine, but the longer it goes, the more obvious it becomes how stale this film is. The meta commentary has run dry by now, too. The series has nothing left to say on anything, not even its characters, really.

Anyway, the unevenness of the material aside, this box probably is the one where you get the most for your buck. There are LOADS of (exclusive) extras and a relieving lack of bloat from duplicated live albums. Taken as a comprehensive showcase of his 80s work, it's an excellent object to study with.

"Re:Call 4" - Probably where the real meat of this box is. It's funny; Bowie may have struggled to articulate a vision with the albums in this era, but when it came to his one-off singles and soundtrack work, he nailed (nearly) everything. Probably because the pressure wasn't there? Who knows.

Yeahno, I get it, absolutely. For instance, I was totally enthralled in a non-binary way with Orko as a kid.

...the 80s often sound janky to my ears. There's often lots of looping, awkwardly placed sound effects (usually car engines taking off) and instrumental passages that go on forever. And while I heard worse 80s remixes, there's nothing too memorable on here. A disc for the completists.

"Dance" - There were plans for a remix album in the mid-80s, but it was shelved for some reason. I'm not sure if it ever was produced, so for this box, they used the proposed artwork for a compilation of 12'' mixes from that era. And they're... alright. I like a good remix, but the ones from...
