U.S. network TV climate coverage drops by a third: "Corporate broadcast climate coverage declined 35% from 2024 to 2025... Only 8% of climate segments mentioned fossil fuels" @mmfa www.mediamatters.org/broadcast-ne...
"In case of a linear evolution, that corresponds to the midโpoint of the 20โyear period defined by IPCC as 1.5ยฐC threshold. According to this, all data sets are near 1.5ยฐC already and will cross that limit before 2030."

I'm not suggesting this is an open secret within the climate science community, but it's remarkable how little impact this sort of research is generating. Because if the rate of warming really has *doubled* then you can kiss goodbye to 2ยฐC. www.carbonbrief.org/pace-of-glob...
Trump's Iran war makes the case for the energy transition to renewables for most countries much clearer and immediate. @pkrugman.bsky.social 1/
Just announced: Iceland has urgently moved up its referendum to join the European Union - to 29 August.
A reminder: ๐ฎ๐ธ is in many ways already a non-voting ๐ช๐บ member because of the EEA. This would give them voting power to shape the laws they have to follow.
For 50 years, the entire energy world has gamed out this exact scenario, and yet, there doesn't seem to be a plan? Seems bad. rdcu.be/ehooz

Young Woman Being Harassed by a Man
This is Judith Leyster's amazing 1631 painting โYoung Woman Being Harassed by a Manโ.
She was well known in her day but SURPRISE! her works were later misattributed either to Frans Hals, her local contemporary, or her husband, Jan Miense Molenaer.

What they want is access to everyone's internet activity. They want to know what you're watching, reading and whacking to. They want to shame you at will with something like, "Weren't you looking at tentacle porn?" The internet could go from the freest to the most restricted mode of communication.

The attacks on Iran from the US and Israel further confirm that theyโre rogue states operating outside international law. They need to be reined in, but we also need to reduce US leverage over usโwhich includes getting off US tech and developing alternatives.

It wasn't "cancel culture" when women and people of color got used up, silenced, and dismissed before their careers even began. It only became "cancel culture" when powerful abusers started having established careers momentarily inconvenienced by revelations of what they'd done.
Thomas is absolutely right in this thread. The only small nuance I would add is that it is not just about massively investing in renewables - it is the massive roll-out of EVs, heat pumps and helping industry to electrify. Unpicking our combustion-favouring policies in those fields is urgent.
Enforcement, please.
