March 8, 1782: In Ohio Country, 160 Pennsylvania militiamen murder 96 unarmed Christian Indians—39 children, 29 women, and 28 men—by hammering their skulls with mallets from behind as they kneel, praying and singing, in their Moravian Mission.
March 7, 1966: SCOTUS, in South Carolina v. Katzenbach, holds that the Fifteenth Amendment is a valid constitutional basis for the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

March 7, 1965: Approximately 600 people trying to peacefully cross the Edmund Petus Bridge to begin a march from Selma to Montgomery in support of voting rights are attacked and beaten, many severely, by Alabama state troopers.
