Well critics are fans and with a franchise as big as Pokemon at this point a lot of critics will be carrying some past Pokemon experience into their review. Pokemon mainline games have always been in that mid 80 range on average but I think the spinoff games tend to review a fair bit worse

I rarely do. I’ll usually buy 1 or 2 games a year at full price if they’re games I’ve been extremely excited for. Pokemon Wi/Wa will be one of those. I mostly buy games on sale. But it’s a hobby like any other. Everyone has a different idea of what they’re willing to spend on the hobby

As a lifelong Pokemon fan I can understand exactly why that’s the case. The Pokemon community are divided over every mainline game and why it’s the best/worst/goated/mid game since “insert your fav pokemon game here”. Pokopia is its own thing without all the baggage a mainline game will carry

It can’t be overstated how DoA this game was looking after the alpha and ensuing art theft scandal broke. Delaying and fixing/polishing, addressing criticism like lack of prox chat, and of course making things right with the artist were mandatory and they did it. It’s a great turnaround

I played a good 10-15 hours. It’s good. Seems like Bungie succeeded at making a PvP experience that people who aren’t just Destiny PvE fans will begrudgingly engage with. The style and world building are really cool

Personally I’d rather pay $20 and just have the game. I don’t really care for NSO, I don’t own any of those games it’s just a bunch of games that I’ve bought before on other Nintendo consoles that I should rightfully just have access to without a $20 yearly tax
