1. MUSIC!!!
I don't know how to quit you. A short autobiographical comic by Rita Sapunor @ritalately 2026

2. I told myself: This is NOT a band. It's just 4-5 people gathering to play music in a living room - turned regular practice space. That's all I want.

3. Someone said "Let's play "Deceptacon!" and we all knew it. "Every day + niiight..."

4. "...Ev'ry Day and All Ni-i-ight... " can see your disco dick is sucking my heart out of my mind! I'm out of time, I'm out of fucking time, I'm out of fucking time. I'm a gasoline gut with a Vasoline mind but, wanna DISCO, Wanna see me DISCO!"
But no sooner than one song in...

5. Another opportunity presented itself. "Wanna join my BALKAN VOCAL ensemble?" "Umm ABSOLUTELY!"

6. ...And I'm an opportunistic person. "We practice Tuesdays at 7." "I'll be there." (with homemade baklava and a bottle of Slivovitz.)

7. It's both a strength and a weakness, but small things can awaken strong ambitions in me. "What should we play next?" "Cannonball" "Yeah". (If I know myself,...I will parlay this into E.U. citizenship).
END.

DO YOU REMEMBER BATTLE UNICRON

1. In the winter of 2001, we were reading the scene titles on the Transformers DVD. "One of those should be a band name" "What about Battle Unicron" "Dude! That's perfect!"

2. With only a band name, we improvised songs on my Casio Rapman Keyboard.

3. We record those songs as we made them up on a broken four track. "Unicron is a piece of carpet fringe!"

4. Those songs were put on a CD and it was strangely a hit with everyone we knew. "The Devil is from Fort Worth" - Ben Snakepit's review.

5. Our first and only show was at Moontunes on April 15th 2001. It was Easter Sunday and the day Joey Ramone died. At the beginning of our set we plugged in three vacuums and blew the power. "Unicron is Mucus Membranes."

6. Bands wanted to do splits and play shows with us but we couldn't because my Casio Rapman died.

7. Our pal Darrel really wanted us to record a song for a comp he was doing, so much so that he bought us a new Casio Rapman. "Holy crap! My baby's back!"

8. One new song was record for Darrel's comp, but every time we tried to record after that it didn't have the same magic and we just lost the recordings. "We should sample Double Dragon's theme but play it backwards*" "Yeah!"

9. The canadian hardcore band OXBAKER put out a split 7" with our original recordings. It still see it in distros. The OXBAKER side is seriously so good.

10. "I have been in many bands but Battle Unicron is probably the most notable band I've been in... and it was by no means impressive."

11. Dustin asks about recording new songs every couple of years. The Casio Rapman still works (I think). So who is to say we won't play again.

1. One of my favorite opening sets in recent memory was from a local band in a tiny bar at 10:pm the night before Halloween. (No stage!) Bands played on the floor next to the bar.

2. They said they had to play a short set since their bass player was getting surgery on his finger in the morning. He played suprisingly well despite being bandaged up.

3. With two songs to go, they abruptly stopped. "Okay - we're done." "Why?" "Our drummer's partner is giving birth RIGHT NOW!"

4. "The next band got food poisoning, so they had to drop off the show. The headliner is up next and there are no more bands after that. Gratuities are appreciated!"
