Well if this is dense as well, I’m figuring it was the recipe and not me. Either way, I found a fabulous frosting recipe, so not a total loss.

Strawberry cake 2.0 in the oven.
I swapped out for fresh leavening, cooked the puree even longer, used the hand mixer instead of the stand mixer.

We’ll see.

Lord of the Fries, First Lady and the Tramp…I remember the Clinton ones really well.

My favorite is still the non political one about Barney the purple dinosaur set to Christmas in Killarney

Perry: This St. Patrick’s Day, don’t forget Irish music’s anti-fascist roots Dropkick Murphys, the iconic Irish American punk band, are headlining a free block party March 6 near where Alex Pretti was killed by immigration agents, contributing columnist David M. Perry writes.

Congrats to @lollardfish.bsky.social for this very fine piece on the protest roots of Irish music: www.startribune.com/st-patricks-...

American Dad! - ollie north
American Dad! - ollie north YouTube video by Mr. Divery

Not something I’ve ever really watched, but in case you, like me, are an old: youtu.be/lFV1uT-ihDo?...

I was explaining to Youngest about Oliver North and Iran & he told me he knew that guy. Then he showed me a bit from American Dad. It was surprisingly accurate.

When I say I never know what my kids do and don’t know, this is why. They get a weird mix of stuff from pop culture.

I didn’t take that post as harassing a generation?

I have a Boomer parent, am a late Gen Xer, and have Gen Z adult kids. There are things I take for granted that they know & I’m constantly surprised they don’t.

It’s not a value judgement. Just an observation. Life has changed a lot in 30 years.

I think it’s more likely they’ve lost those skills as they’ve lost executive function. Failure of memory.

Because Boomers lived in an era where they had to mail all the things.

And schools stopped teaching some things because it became less necessary (understandably). I was taught how to address an envelope in elementary school.

The hardest part for me is admitting I’m really not gonna use all the various condiments I have accumulated.

Also why I insisted they mail actual cards and not just text a thank you.

And this is exactly why I made my kids write, address, and mail the thank you cards for high school graduation gifts instead of doing it for them.

K, but this also extends to LOTR, because many of the themes were ripped from the Eddas.
