I am very excited to announce Iβve bought Rush tickets for 2027
I am very excited to announce Iβve bought Rush tickets for 2027
I caught Tron: Ares last night. It had no right being that much fun. It reminded me a little of The Terminator spliced with Reboot - that computer-animated kids show from the 90s.
Killer soundtrack too, on par with Daft Punkβs thumping Tron: Legacy score
Very nice, thanks. I do want to watch more older films this year so this is very helpful
Right, just in case anyone is interested, these are my top 20 movie recommendations of 2025 boxd.it/RkxDe
I want to try and get back in to the habit of sharing my thoughts on films, so with that in mind, hereβs what I thought of #AvatarFireAndAsh boxd.it/c8D1m9
Am rewatching Jingle All The Way (seeing as itβs Christmas) and was curious as to what Phil Hartmanβs characterβs kid looks like now.
Surely, if we ever got a John Candy biopic, E.J. De La Pena is your guy
I am off to a gig tonight. Iβm seeing The Offspring.
Itβs just occurred to me that Iβm wearing the same jacket Iβve worn to the last three shows Iβve been to
Itβs givingβ¦
They mustβve sold out
This entire advert collapses when you realise John Lewis donβt actually sell vinyl records
Sam Rivers death has really hit me.
He was one of my inspirations for first picking up a bass guitar.
Bass players in nu-metal donβt often get the recognition they deserve but if you listen to the intro on tracks like Re-Arranged and Take a Look Around, youβll get it. RIP to a legend
I saw #TheSmashingMachine tonight and was compelled to get my thoughts down as quickly as possible, so here they are on Letterboxd boxd.it/bhiU5j
Thereβs a dog on my flight. I repeat, THEREβS A DOG ON MY FLIGHT
Going to Portugal soon. Have just bought six train tickets for three separate journeys for when weβre out there and itβs cost just Β£45
A regular reminder that weβre ripped off for train travel in the UK
I think we need to talk about Cooper Hoffman in #TheLongWalk. What a powerhouse performance that was. And his characterβs monologue about losing his father is especially poignant knowing heβs had to deal with that very same grief
I bought myself a yellow rain coat this week. Itβs giving big Dennis Nedry vibes, and Iβm good with that
All of London this week during the Tube strikes
Seeing photos of Ted Lasso filming again is REALLY making me miss living in Richmond, so letβs talk about the time I went for a walk and saw them shooting season 3 just minutes from my front door
I went in to Eddington thinking we were getting a Coen-esque, dark comedy about escalating tensions between a small townβs sheriff and mayor over Covid-19 precautions that would have shades of No Country for Old Men and Burn After Reading
What we got in fact was one of the best films of the year
Weapons (2025). Dir. Zach Cregger
I saw #FantasticFour tonight and while Iβm still digesting it, my first takeaway is that it reminded me of both Ghostbusters 1 and 2. Giant tramples around New York. Evil being sees a newborn baby as the future of their existence
Stop what youβre doing and look at this hot chocolate I hate yesterday. Seriously, look at it. Drink it in.
Iβm confident when I say I reckon Iβll be the only person at the Alexisonfire gig at the Brixton Academy tonight who climbed Snowdon yesterday and drove all the way home from Colwyn Bay today
Are we all agreement that if Samsung, Apple, Google etc started providing earphones with new phones again the epidemic of people playing music aloud would end immediately?
Saw The F1 movie last night.
The very fact it makes you care about tactics, airflow, dirty air and race strategy is a seriously impressive feat.
Despite this gripe, I still hold a soft spot 28 Weeks Later because one of my first jobs in journalism was interning at DVD Review magazine, and I remember transcribing interviews with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Robert Carlyle, and getting a little βadditional reportingβ byline in the magazine
Iβve just finished my rewatch of 28 Weeks Later and it annoys me that I never noticed this before but the film features, quite prominently, the new Wembley Stadiumβ¦ which opened in 2007. Now, in this universe, the world theoretically ended in 2002. THAT STADIUM SHOULDNβT EXIST
Iβm going to see 28 Years Later tomorrow night (because it seems literally everyone in the world has already seen it) so Iβm rewatching 28 Days Later right now and will take on 28 Weeks Later tomorrow morning
So I know I said The Salt Path is one of the best British films for quite a while, and I stand by that, but The Ballad of Wallis Island can now join that list
A remarkable, brilliantly-written, funny, emotional film with wonderful performances all round. It will make my Top Ten of 2025
I catch The Salt Path with my wife at the weekend.
I will happily say itβs one of the best British films in some time. It covers some heavy topics, but itβs genuinely feel-good and Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs are wonderful. And now I canβt stop thinking about coastal walks.
Iβm a little concerned I havenβt been to the cinema in well over a week. I caught Final Destination and it was a return to form, but weβre getting into the busy time of the year for movies and I fear I wonβt have time for them all. I still need to see Final Reckoning!
