Max Scherzer re-signs with Blues Jays for chance to win, get even with guy who cut him off on DVP
After talks intensified last week, Jays now have a $3 million deal with Scherzer via Shi. @jonheyman.bsky.social was first on agreement.
From what I heard last week, the Blue Jays will take it slowly with Scherzer. They aren't about to rush him onto an opening day roster. Could be weeks into season

Pitchers and catchers report to Dunedin tomorrow. GLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEI love my Blue Jays. And spring training is my sign that winter is on the wane. Not that I have much winter here in Kelowna, but baseball!!!
You can tell baseball season is approaching because I already saw a bunch of Mets fans go "ah man what the hell"
Buck called it straight, praised the game when it deserved it, and never talked down to the fans. He made wins sweeter, losses easier to swallow, and big moments feel even bigger. For a lot of us, Blue Jays baseball wonβt ever sound quite the same without him.
Thank you, Buck, for the memories.
Well goddamn. For anyone who grew up watching the Blue Jays, this guy is a legend. Good luck, Buck.

Blue Jays baseball without Buck Martinez will be like eating cereal without milk.
Enjoy your retirement Buck
A significant part of my integration into Canadian life has involved listening to Buck Martinez's color commentary. The distinct timbre of his voice and the cadence of his stories are seared into my experience of Jays games. Baseball color commentary is an art form, and Martinez was an artist.
In this country, Buck is to baseball what Bob Cole was to hockey and he should be spoken about with the exact same level of reverence.
I grew up listening to him call games on the radio before I even knew what baseball was. He was a gift to Blue Jays baseball and its fans.
I'm extra sad I'll never hear him talking about "Cam Shitler" again during Yankees games because he could never say his name right. Always made me laugh.
Wishing you a very happy Buck Martinez day, every time I encountered his broadcasts he came across as someone who liked baseball and made you want to watch it because baseball is fun and good
Raising a glass and also retiring my Buck Martinez socks π»π’

Buck Martinez is all thatβs right about baseball. Voices like his are why the sport is so revered by fans like me. He will be missed but not forgotten. Impossible to replace.
In honour of Buck Martinez announcing his retirement as #Toronto #BlueJays commentator.
I give you the most badass play, he made as an active player.
Making a double play with a broken leg. π€―

Congratulations to Buck Martinez on an amazing baseball career on and off the field. Buck has been the voice of the Blue Jays for my entire adult life and it was so great to have the home crew call all the postseason last year. I love seeing a guy go out on a high note. Happy retirement Buck!

Legendary Blue Jays announcer Buck Martinez retiring - months after *epic most accurate Yankees rant EVER
*Fixed it π
In a career that's hit for the cycle, as a player, a manager and a broadcaster, Buck Martinez is quite simply Mr. Blue Jay. His voice, (like Tom Cheek's and Jerry Howarth's before him), his signature "get up ball, get up" was the backbeat to an era of Blue Jays baseball. Thank you Buck. Take a bow!

On top of broadcasting for Toronto, Martinez also spent the final 6 years (1981-86) of his playing career with the Blue Jays and managed
It was something special to get to listen to Buck and Dan call the World Series this past fall. Baseball is the best sport at making nostalgia, and that experience is going to stay with me. Thank you Buck Martinez for all the memories

Buck memories (both w my brother):
-Being part of the mob who took Yank Stad over during the rainy 2xheader in 2015 & getting an audible "Buck Martinez" chant on air.
-Meeting him after a Canadians game he was calling & getting an '86 Topps Martinez signed which we'd pulled from a pack THAT DAY.
