I’ve been trying to use my art to be more visible in the world as a trans person, I hope it helps others know they aren’t alone.

and I think it’s appropriate to point out on International Women’s Day that the often horrendous trauma that birth mothers suffer from being caught up in the #adoption industry is a moral stain on our society that no one wants to talk about.

Measles outbreaks are costing the U.S. millions of dollars. The true losses can't be counted. As vaccination rates decline, the economic consequences will increase, research suggests.

Maybe the slogan "Measles will make us lose money" is what would finally break through in a society suffering from end stage capitalism.🤷🏽‍♀️
1.5 billion dollars cost annually for every percentage drop in vaccination coverage just might be what does it.

not only do we librarians welcome preliterate patrons but we might also be willing to extend library privileges to this visitor. all we really ask is that they observe the behavior policy

So I’m clear

3 countries, all whose government’s are propped up by religious fervor & impotent rage, are converging on each other with Putin stirring

But the End Times are coming because I’m sharing a bathroom with someone whose mom accidentally named her Steve at birth.

Have I got that right?

Gonna double down with a reminder that if you post a screenshot of text from an article you should alt text it & link to the fucking article!!!! If you found it on the internet you should share the link!!! Do not force me to Nancy Drew my way back to the source by triangulating fonts w/news outlets.

it feels like my country is an assembly line for producing crimes against humanity which no one will ever punish, or even bother to pretend caring about, and it's making me crazy

no one will ever be able to explain why making me a total legal stranger to my family (and anonymous for 40 years), and issuing me falsified identity documents, are benefits that accrue to *me* rather than to the people who paid good money for the experience of natal parenthood

I've got two words for anyone who believes plenary adoption doesn't involve the "pride of ownership" of children:

PARENTAL RIGHTS

[The foregoing is in addition to the Certificate of Title referenced by Tony -- Some adoptees will do a "title search" to find their "original owners."]

Reposting this part specifically because I sat here panicking for a second thinking "I know I've had my shots, but this is happening in my state. How fucked am I?" Turns out, I'm probably okay. But it's good to know.

Most adults born in the United States can assume they are vaccinated, according to the CDC. Adult travelers may get a booster if they are going to a destination that has circulating poliovirus; have completed their routine polio vaccine series; and have not already received one adult booster dose.

All young people deserve to see themselves in their education. A bill targeting students’ access to books and health information causes real harm. Ahimsa calls us to protect the vulnerable. #EngagedBuddhism

Yeah, I discovered via routine "I might be trying to have a baby" blood work that I not only no longer had my MMR immunity but also evidently my varicella immunity from having caught the chicken pox when I was 4 or 5 didn't last. So I had to get both redone.

All that to say, it's worth checking!

If it took personal suffering to understand the guy bragging about hurting people is hurting people then you're either incredibly stupid, or you were happy to watch the suffering as long as you were safe. You can't be trusted either way. You chose it 3 times. You're going to choose it again.

According to PEW, teens in households making under $75K are more likely to use chatbots for help with all or most schoolwork. I read a comment on another platform that said this is amazing news because we are "finally going to close the achievement gap." That is not how I would interpret this data.

a thing historians will marvel about when they study this era is the extent to which the "war is a thing that happens to poorer, browner people" class went about systematically dismantling every aspect of the global political order that confined the costs of war to poorer and browner people

Prereleases costing $50 is a bigger problem than ANY Universes Beyond set. Magic needs to be financially accessible, but especially prerelease.

I'm 59 and have lived through the U.S. attacking maybe 20 countries and not a single attack, nor any life sacrificed by a soldier has made the U.S. better or richer. In reality, every war makes America worse, poorer and more dangerous to the world.

I was radicalized by a kind elderly Presbyterian minister in a brightly colored cardigan who played with puppets and told me that people could like me exactly as I am and that everyone is different and that's great and we should like them exactly as THEY are.

My adoptive dad, in a drunken moment of anger, once said to me "You'll never mean anything to anyone."

While I generally look back at that and laugh because that's patently ridiculous and my life has proven him wrong, it's moments like this that I worry he was right.

Okay. But that's different and, imho, entirely fair. This person is the child of my adoptive dad's sister. And neither she nor either of her sisters attended either wedding this year. But she's the only one who admitted via holiday newsletter that they were getting together without the rest of us.

And somehow I'm even more incensed that they skipped BOTH weddings. Like sure. Skip mine. Fuck me. Obviously. But you skipped OTHER cousin's wedding too? Fucking, yikes. Tell me how you REALLY feel, why don't you?

No seriously. Tell me. This subtlety shit is for the birds.
