Yeah lol that sucks! Did you get spoiled during your binge watch?
No real issue with self-identification. My problem is the way it gets used sometimes from some who don't seem to have their audiences best interests in mind. Their intentions may have started off well but overtime eroded. Feel free to share btw. Just know I was referring to very specific instances
Thanks for sharing this. I think it's great that you're actively making an effort to understand and deconstruct beliefs you've had. I'm sure it's quite the ongoing journey to say the least.
So-so. This post/interview seems relevant here: www.theupandup.us/p/conservati...
This thread isn't to negate or detract from the initial reposted thread. It's meant to add to it. All instances referenced in both threads are issues that need to be actively addressed within the Autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD communities. Other communities too but that's a different thread altogether.
Just my scattered tangential thoughts on this later AM. #psAuDHD
I added the asterisks * to indicate that the Black autistic women and/or gender expansive person mentioned were the same "them" and "their existence" being referred to.
If a Black autistic woman or gender expansive person* dares to question, oppose, or add onto the posts of a white autistic content creator w/a large following, there've been many instances where things became unsafe for them* just for their existence. No other group gets (mis)treated that way. π§
I also have an issue with the unchecked misogynoir that goes on within autistic spaces. For those unaware, misogynoir is an unjust experience specific to Black women at the intersection of racism and sexism.
There was a white autistic woman a while ago who told her audience, they didn't need to meet the criteria for Autism to be autistic. WHAT?!What are we doing here? You absolutely have to meet the criteria for ASD to be autistic. That shouldn't be a controversial statement. It isn't one! It just is.
The issue (at least my issue) begins when a self-proclaimed autistic person (from observation they're mostly white/not gender specific BUT a few have been racialized individuals) gains a large audience and encourages them not to pursue an Autism assessment w/or w/out barriers.
I understand that there are numerous barriers that autistic adults face. Not denying that. Not at all.
One of my gripes with autistic content creators is when they willingly choose not to be assessed for Autism and encourage their audience to do the same. It's not necessarily a huge issue but it is an issue.
While it's important to highlight the strengths of ADHD, it's important not to allow the pendulum to swing entirely towards the positives. There needs to be a balance. ADHD has its strengths as well as its challenges. Please keep this in mind.

Bluesky also had enough reach to kick off the Tesla Takedown & get those millions out for No Kings. So what happens here radiates out & means something without us having to duke it out with the right as our company here.
Apparently she's so far right that he looked moderate in comparison.
I looked that show up after I thought of it and it was only like 3 episodes before it was cancelled. Epic fail. Unfortunately that includes Monica.
You're welcome π©·
As far as who did or didn't receive services. It was evident I was disabled back then but I wasn't allowed to be disabled (if that makes sense). Thanks for the latter part of your post btw. I know y'meant well.
Sure it is. There just aren't folks willing to make them. I didn't take the F too seriously but my relatives sure did. They didn't understand how anyone fails gym. I didn't have an answer other than idk what to do. Everyone else seemed to get it & I didn't. Disability was different back then
That's not so bad. At least you didn't have to wait a whole year between seasons. Then again y'might have had a clearer view of the show's decline π€·πΎββοΈ
Right! People are not machines. Even if we were, even machines will act up if they're always ON.

Oh okay. I think I was gonna ask if in order to reach the conclusion you made did you have to deconstruct to some degree?
