Even more exciting, we find that other AML driversβ€”like NUP98 and KMT2A fusionsβ€”coerce their own β€œmajestic creatures” into the same C-body nightmare, revealing a shared structural logic behind clinically similar leukemias. See the original thread ⬇️ for more insights.

Disparate leukemia mutations converge on nuclear phase-separated condensates Mutant NPM1 and various leukemia oncofusions form biophysically indistingishable nuclear condensates, termed C-bodies, which orchestrate leukemogenic gene expression. These findings consolidate divers...

And here’s the twist we uncover in the new work ⬇️: the gremlin’s power was never in the cytoplasm at all. NPM1c must act *in the nucleus* through phase separation, bringing together multiple proteins on chromatin to drive AML... Overturning years of assumptions.

Incredibly excited to receive an ERC Consolidator Grant. This recognition means a lot for what we’ve built so far and for what’s ahead.

Thank you to all collaborators and supporters.

Looking forward to getting this project going!

New method πŸš€: scEpi2-seq lets us read DNA methylation+histone marks in the same single cell. Found that methylation β€œmemory” after replication depends on chromatin+histones, and TF promoters repressed by H3K27me3 carry distinct methylation. So stoked to share this as first+co-corresponding author πŸŽ‰
