Hello!
Hello!
That said: I want a beer.
Representation in administrative bodies matters very little. Even if you were elected by your peers, if a more prominent professor—who isn’t even part of the committee—speaks up, their will is likely to prevail over the institution’s formal structure.
I also learned—later than I’d like to admit—that collegial governance in Brazilian universities is often held hostage by the opinions of prestigious faculty.
That said, being a tenured professor in a Brazilian university is the closest I’ve come to a full neoliberal experience: a space where nearly everyone is constantly focused on defending their own interests, regardless of their political orientation.
Brazilian public universities have some peculiarities. One of them is that all permanent faculty are tenure-track and hold job stability—they can't be dismissed unless for serious misconduct, which is extremely rare.
I thought that was a problem just in Brazil! 😔
Interesting to see these big name universities absolutely crumble and cave — halting admissions, altering faculty labs’ websites, and basically being a bunch of collaborators. Almost like that’s what they were really about all along. Almost like those billions in endowments aren’t for education.
Trump lying about the causes of war, reversing decades of Russia policy and throwing former allies and adherence to rules under the bus. If Congress doesn’t push back now then it never will. What an absolute disgrace ↘️
A função deep research da @perplexityai.bsky.social é incrível. Mas tenho certeza que ainda vou descobrir algum podre sobre seu CEO ou a empresa em si. Deepseek me deixou mal acostumado.
Que soft power, eihm? #deepseek
Maybe it wasn’t the best idea to let one guy control apps used by 80% of the world
Com a nova política de não verificação de conteúdo da Meta, espero que mais gente venha pro bsky, Mastodon etc. E como fazer com o Whatsapp? É uma porcaria ser dependente dessas grandes empresas, e não acho que o Telegram seja uma opção.
Hello, world!
