What worries me is the reaction yet to come - we don't have specifics on motive or identity, but they are already spinning stories about it being a trans rights motivated event.

IIRC "CARDNAME" usually means "read as the card name" on playtest cards. And in this case the card name is "Loot" which is an unofficial mechanic term....so to me that seems like we get to "loot" right? (Like Merfolk Looter effect)

I wonder if @scryfall.com already has access to this data and maybe could expose it via search? 🤔

So for @veggiewagon.bsky.social - scryfall might not expose that in their API or their search. BUT you could get MTGjson and use a JQ filter to find the info.

There's a whole community around structuring the data for MTG cards. MTGjson is the biggest project AFAIK and many sites use that as a source.

They need a source for it, but if there is one maybe they could add it.

Unfortunately from what I'm seeing the data doesn't necessarily include the original card text.

The 5th edition Wrath of God shows "bury" in the text, but the JSON does not include that word in any field.

Only non-english versions include `printed_text` to show the non-english translation.

"original text" as in like text as written on cards instead of "oracle text". Or like as in search all the words on card (including flavor text)?

If the latter then: "lore:bury" - will search all fields on a card that can have text.
