OTD in 1970, hidden in the darkness, one of Italy's most devastating and tragic tornadoes happened in Veneto. The city of Venice, where the better known worst impacts took place, still remembers it to this day with a memorial dedicated to the victims of that night
Hi Scott. About the tornado in Öls/Oleśnica in 1535, I have a written account at home. Need to find it. I remember it was written that people were lifted, parts of the town walls collapsed + upper floors of houses were demolished. Basically a strong impact. Cheers, Thilo
A pretty partially sunlit little waterspout presented herself on the border of a storm east of Genoa
In terms of winter cold-front storms I'd say Kyrill 2007 had also several strong tornadoes, but not such a high number in total (we will investigate more about it). With older winter events, only little is known.
16-17 FEB 2022 - Tornado-Outbreak
At least 32 tornadoes occurred over N Central Europe within 20 hours along cold-front storms. One tornado reached IF2.5, and 14 reached IF2 intensity
