3/4 Owendoff is a donor to the Mayor, and Future Portland endorsed the more conservative members of council. Similar to Trump, we know this racist and misogynistic language seeks to diminish people of color, the folks working hard to defend working people across the city.
2/4. We learned that Developer Brian Owendoff was texting with Future Portland and Partnership for Progress while the city council was debating who should be the next council president.
1/4 Important journalism by today from the @portlandmercury.com revealed racist, misogynistic, and dehumanizing texts from a well-connected Portland developer.
We keep hearing from elected women who tell us privately that Metro Chamberβs Hoan and Issacs yell at them in meetings and calls. We are deeply worried that this kind bullying behavior is happening and women leaders are afraid to come forward.
Business leadersβ efforts to cut preschool for all completely underestimated the importance of early child care to our economy and parents. So does @oregonianβs news coverage. Moms and parents spoke loudly and clearly and stopped Brim Edwards proposed cuts.
Families need preschool, not more tax breaks for the wealthy.

We are looking forward to this new council focusing on good governance that benefits all Portlanders.
Multnomah County News release. Picture of temporary shelter beds. Multnomah County Chair Vega Pederson, Mayor Wheeler, Mayor-elect Wilson partner to open at least 200 overnight winter shelter beds. "We cannot solve our homelessness crisis fast enough - especially for the many people sleeping in the cold on our streets tonight."
Today in partnership with Mayor Wheeler and Mayor-elect Wilson, we are announcing a collaboration to open 200 new overnight, winter emergency shelter beds to provide life saving, urgent relief to unsheltered Portlanders as the weather gets colder and wetter.
A lame duck Council should not be making sweeping reactionary policies at the request of a DA who hasnβt even taken office yet.
Let the newly elected Council, our most diverse ever, decide when they take office in 2 weeks.
While Iβll be in person to be accessible to constituents, non front facing employees shouldnβt have to be. This is antiquated. Work from home equalized the workplace in so many ways for women, parents, caregivers, people of color, etc., why should we take that away?
Four years ago, protests defined Portland. Since then, more than 260 people have filed legal complaints alleging injuries from police, resulting in roughly $3.3 million in payouts. Now, an independent monitor will determine whether police have improved crowd control tactics and command structures.

I co-sign every word of this op-ed. What I heard overwhelmingly on the doors in East Portland is deep skepticism that voting for local elections mattered considering every other election failed to represent the needs of District 1.
RCV was a huge win for East PDX!
