Farewell to one of the greatest actors of my generation and any other
Windust was a stage director (LIFE WITH FATHER among others) with limited film experience. Walsh was brought in by Steve Trilling and Jack Warner add professional heft, move the narrative and effectively save the picture by making it what it became. But Windust did not get sick & leave early on.
Raoul Walsh directed added scenes and retakes for The Enforcer from September 22 till September 28.βprobably about 20 to 25 scenes. He also directed 15 additional new scenes on October 6. Sperling changed the picture as it was being shot . There were five different script revisions
I should add that this is not an error of omission or fault by Brody. "Windyβ finished the picture five days early with no indication that he missed any time due to illness. Milton Sperling saved 5 days for retakes & added scenes that were helmed by Raoul Walsh. Sets were purposely not struck
Brody is totally incorrect about how long Windust directed the film. Another erroneous story that has been reprinted and repeated so often that it became accepted as fact, but is refuted by the daily WB production reports on the film.
I hereby nominate Anders Vistisen for the Medal of Freedom. Congressional Republicans who have a yellow streak down their collective backs a mile long should take heed

Just read Rob Reiner and his wife were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home. This horrific crime occurring on the same day of the slaughter of 15 members of the Australian Jewish community at a beach celebration for Hanukkah & the Brown University shootings fills me with despair

This is exactly why I dislike going to first run movies. The brain dead ads and endless previews at ear-splitting volume are asinine and valueless. In particular, the unendurableβNoovieβ preview show might be one of the most annoyingly vapid creations ever screened theatrically.
