Employees at Camp East Montana are being told that the massive detention Center in El Paso is not closing, internal messages obtained by the El Paso Times show.
My story:
Trump will absolutely not stop unless he is stopped. It wouldn't take much to stop himβhe's a coward. But if those who have institutional power don't act, the current crisis will get even worse. He has no self-control and is giddy over the death and suffering he's inflicting.
And here's the link to a recording of last night's mass call! Some really inspiring stories from those working on the ground to block warehouses in their communities, as well as ideas for how to get involved where you live.
Obamaβs change in policy towards Cuba and the JCPOA happened, the world didnβt end, everything was fine. Part of manufacturing consent for more war is purposefully forgetting the very recent memory when it was proven to be wholly unnecessary.
Stopped in at a Columbia Heights coffee shop and ordered a decaf, because caffeine and I arenβt friends. The barista looked at me sideways but pityingly then went in the back room and returned with a plastic bottle of NescafΓ© decaf. I have never been so put in my place.
Nashville Noticias staffer Estefany RodrΓguez was detained by ICE in South Nashville on Wednesday morning. There was no warrant for her arrest. Her attorneys have filed an emergency petition in federal court seeking a writ of habeas corpus, or an immediate review of whether or not her detention is legal. RodrΓguez, who was in the car with her husband β a U.S. citizen β has been following all the legal steps to citizenship. In her job, RodrΓguez has reported several stories that hold ICE accountable, and itβs unclear whether her detention was retaliation. As of Thursday afternoon, she was in Alabama en route to an ICE processing center in Louisiana.
Something I donβt think can be emphasized enough is how fast ICE is shipping the people they detain off to another state. βMove fast and break thingsβ but for people in potentially life or death situations. nashvillebanner.com/2026/03/05/j...
My university received a few years ago the promise of the largest single gift to a public university in U.S. history. It was equivalent to 12 hours of bombing Iran.
Thanks for listening!
Pouring through government documents or records for contracts, specs, hiring, movement and acquisition of equipment, etc., to cut them off before they get out of the gate whenever possible, and slow them down regardless.
I'm told it will go up on YouTube. I'll post a link here when it does.
Just got off a mass call hosted by @50501movement.bsky.social that included @frankabe.bsky.social, @projectsaltbox.bsky.social, @sussexvb.bsky.social, @tifotter.bsky.social, me, & others. So incredible to hear from speakers unearthing plans and finding ways to fight concentration camps nationwide.
"US investigation points to likely US responsibility in Iran school strike, sources say"
If you want to be a part of the growing movement to shut down these camps, here's a great @50501movement.bsky.social call with Andrea Pitzer to join TONIGHT.

That's a grim time to have been in late adolescence! I worry about my own kids. Their whole political awareness has been formed in the Trump era.
"2026 is not 2003.
Iβve said before that this year is going to feel like a century, but thereβs a growing clarity in the country about Trump, and a growing, organized movement to reject the policies of authoritarianism and hate."
The Friday roundup is up a day early, with links to the podcast! I also wrote about that terrible feeling of dread I often feel due to the many evil events underway these days, and how it recalls the nightmarish stretch from 9/11 to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. But there's an important difference.
The use of AI to identify targets (without subsequent specific human confirmation) should be considered a war crime.
And by that I don't mean "we should make a rule" I mean that straightforward application of the existing rules would tell you that it is a war crime.
And as someone who closely monitors both websites I can assure you that X is a right wing radicalization pipeline, including for people who consider themselves smart and progressive, while Bluesky is just an overwhelming left leaning platform. Those are very different things.
An Iranian warship destroyed in a US torpedo strike on Wednesday was "defenceless" and participating in an international naval exercise as a guest of the Indian navy, according to reports. Former Indian Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal said βthe Iranian ship will not be where it was if we had not invited it to talk [sic] part in our Milan exerciseβ. Sibal added that because it was taking part in an exercise βit was defencelessβ. Indian politician Supriya Shrinate said on social media: "These Iranian navy men parading at an event in India, were our guests. Invited by us. "US submarine targeted their ship and killed them while they were returning home." Shrinate also criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his failure to make a statement on the attack.
The Iranian warship that was bombed by the US was unarmed

To be clear, it wasn't moving at highway speeds, and it was heading right *toward* me. Otherwise, I am way too slow a runner to have caught up.
As a constituent of yours, @kaine.senate.gov, I hope this story isn't true. You know better than to enable a war run by fools and murderers, the kind of people who help kill schoolgirls then lie about it.
I once jumped aboard a runaway bus to keep it from crashing.
One thing about these big camp systems is that they inflict a tremendous amount of harm through sheer momentum. When a system is built to be both negligent and punitive, it tends to cause suffering by default.
βAlmost all the 165 people killed in the attack were girls aged between seven and 12, according to local officials. There were around 170 girls at the school in southern Iranβs Minab at the time.β
A double-tap strike on little girls at school.
Still time to sign up for tomorrow's @50501movement.bsky.social mass call on how you can stop 21st century American concentration camps in your hometown. Warehouses being leased as immigration detention sites. Hear from local activists and author @andreapitzer.bsky.social.

I haven't said anything about this before, bc in the grand scheme of horrors this only rates as an inconvenience, but since others are experiencing it:
Just three days after CBP arrested me for filming them outside Broadview on 9/27, my TSA Pre & Global Entry were suspendedβand so were my wife's.
BREAKING on MS NOW:
The House Oversight Committee just voted to subpoena Pam Bondi as part of the panel's Epstein investigation.
The vote was 24-19. 5 Republicans voted in favor.
Nice of him to make it clear who ought to bear legal responsibility for everything that happens.
"Tobin said heβs in such despair that heβs offered to give up his asylum case and be deported to Mexico, but ICE has refused that request. 'The U.S. government continues to pay every day for him to be imprisoned.'β Tobin said.
