She does actually have a new label of her own - but as it's associated with WMG I'm not sure how much real independence that gives her.
Oops, I posted the link to the WMG article. I meant to post the one for Sony Music Entertainment (who own RCA, Kesha's label): newsroom.tiktok.com/tiktok-annou...
Tiktok is a HUGE moneymaker for artists. Artists have never really had control over their music if they are signed to a major.
You're right, CML is the royalty-free library, apologies. However her label (RCA i.e. SME) have a sync licence in place with TikTok: newsroom.tiktok.com/tiktok-annou...
To be fair, there are a lot of well designed UK government digital services. This year I have used self-assessment as usual but also (sadly), Tell Us Once, the Power of Attorney portal, and the Probate Service. They have all done exactly what it says on the tin and done so very efficiently.
Oh and let's not forget, that Kesha will get paid for every view that post gets.
If artists don't want to happen, they need to instruct their record companies to cancel their sync licences with the social media companies (e.g. TikTok's Commercial Media Library). Don't hold your breath...
No-one asks the artist before using music on a TikTok or other social media post. The music is licensed to the platform therefore no further permission is required.
Because she has no grounds on which to sue - her record company licensed her music to TikTok.
It's not illegal usage. Artists (or their record companies) licence their music to TikTok and other social media platforms. Anyone creating content on those platforms can then use the music. The only way to prevent this is to withdraw your music from TikTok.
Hour or so with my kid helping. Had snow tyres on but still needed the chains to get it 'out of the hole' then took them off and it was fine on the hard-packed snow on the roads. Crazy amount of snow and 5/5 avalanche warnings all week. Of course the week after we leave, bluebird skies every day...

Ok this is quite fascinating actually. Seems like the coroner and sheriffs of London had their work cut out for them!
The concern with atmospheric lithium (and aluminium, although you don’t mention that) dust is that it can affect the ozone layer. Unless you are planning on vaporising lithium batteries and firing them 30km into the atmosphere you’ll be fine.
The rest of the world is interested, although baffled is a better word. There would simply be no mechanism for this to be possible in most democratic states. The US has always been inordinately proud of its constitution and checks and balances but they appear to be a paper tiger.
Any refunds would be due to those who paid the tariffs, which is the importer. Whether they choose to pass those on to their customers (which are generally other businesses) would I suppose be up to them. I wouldn’t hold your breath.
A Skoda Superb combi buried in snow.
First time I forgot to book covered parking…
Not just tourism either. Business visitors also not travelling to the US - I recently declined attendance at our annual global sales kickoff in Las Vegas, along with many of my non-US colleauges.
Nothing to do with Scotland Yard (which doesn’t have a custody suite anyway, it’s purely administrative). He was arrested by TVP, not the Met.
No he was arrested by Thames Valley Police who cover Windsor where he lives. Nothing to do with the Met.
Scotland Yard is the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, which is the territorial police force for London. In the UK people say ‘the Met’ if referring to London’s police force. Calling the police ‘Scotland Yard’ is something only foreigners do, I think they got it from old films maybe.
Please bargains aren’t a thing in the UK. There is no option to ‘cut a deal’.
We don’t have HOAs in the UK. TVP is one of our 45 territorial police forces and covers a population of 2.4M people. It’s a very big constabulary.
And UK police booking photographs don’t have a height chart (which would be in cm anyway).
Nope, that’s the American Robin. This is Erithacus rubecula which we just call a Robin, but you can call it a European Robin to distinguish it from its unrelated namesake.
Main drag in Val Thorens. No let up. Looking forward to digging out the car on Saturday 😬
Another day absolutely hammering it down in Val Thorens. Not even bothering to go out today, most lifts closed anyway. The Alpine Choughs aren’t bothered though!
The nonce and future king…

A very snowy view of Val Thorens
80s levels of snow in Val Thorens. Hopefully clearing a bit tomorrow so they can get more lifts open.
