Birthday month treat day 9: Today's treat was a bit of March serendipity! Lovely warmish (67Β°F), sunny, slightly breezy day with blue sky, the drip of melting snow, and the smell of Spring in the air. I sat on the deck and absolutely reveled in the sensations, knowing Soring is coming.

Birthday month treat day 8: Rummaged through a bin of yarn and found a lovely skein - 575 yards of fingering weight Anzula Cloud (merino and cashmere) from a truck show in 2017 or 2018. I have a pattern in info that needs 560 yards; this may be perfect!

A nice Campari on the rocks- too lazy to do a twist - and a jigsaw puzzle while homemade eggplant parmesean cooks. New recipe from the NYT; easy peas so I hope it's good.

Why is anyone surprised at this? I'm not a mideast specialist, however, I read a report a year ago that Iran had a 4-level plan with multiple branches for replacing the Supreme leader if necessary. The son was preferred replacement even then. In a real government specialists would have that info.

...cards, 2 boxes of books, needlepoint, embroidery, and sample contact lenses! Also the form to order 2026 maj jongg cards, which I did last night. I'm going to excavate the dig that's on top of my printer tonight; can't wait to see what treasures await. πŸ“šπŸ“¦πŸ€„πŸͺ‘🧡

Last night I started cleaning the accumulation of stuff in my home office - catalogs and junk mail mostly. SO tends to place it randomly even though there's a table specifically for mail, so there are always surprises. The first "dig" dates back to before he was in hospital and contains holiday...

Birthday month treat day 7: Tonight was the monthly "happy hours" call with my knitting/sewing/quilting/crafting/gardening/baseball fan buddy with whom I used to work. As usual, we talked for hours - 6, this time - while we fixed boo-boos in current knitting projects. Balm for my soul. πŸ’Ÿ

Birthday month treat day 6: Clinique black honey almost lipstick, mascara, eyeliner, lip and cheek oil, and opalescent eye shadow. Not sure why I wanted this stuff as I rarely wear makeup now, but sometimes I do like to make a bit of an effort! Besides it came with a "free gift" and a little bag.

I vote for doing it Friday at 3 or 4, if it's going to be changed.

I love them, and will be thrilled when the snow melts and dandelions appear. My neighbor has a manicured lawn right up to the woods and I annoy him mightily because I don't poison dandelions and other lovely flowering plants.

I'm with you, Lynn. I love DST; for weeks now looking forward to it has been the only thing getting me through snow and more snow. Just knowing it will be light later at night and we might go to dinner is huge!

I'm watching Ovation - Friday night they play a Death In Paradise marathon. I actually look forward to it every week.

That seems really unfair!

We're expecting mid 60s early in the week, but still have anywhere from 1 to 6 feet of snow that needs to melt before anything comes up. Maybe later in March or early April.

Stew is simmering on the stove top for dinner tonight. It's above freezing and snow and ice are melting, but it's also very dreary and gray and comfort food seems right. Might even make some egg noodles - SO loves egg noodles.

We got 7" more snow overnight, and now it's above freezing so it's melting and dripping and sounds like rain. May be icy tomorrow. Plow dude just came by and sanded (plowed earlier). Looks like we may have a beach this summer. March is coming in like a lion.

We got another 7" of snow last night. I am really getting tired of snow. But it's supposed to be low 60s early next week before dropping back below freezing again.

Birthday month treat day 5: Today's treat is actually a weekly event - knitting with a group of ladies of a certain age. I've been part of the group for about 2 years, the group has been meeting for about 15 years. We laugh, encourage, learn, and support each other. I love these women!

Yeah, my favorite lipstick was discontinued years ago. Even the rep for Estee Lauder (I think) agreed it was perfect, and I bought all I could find then. Lipsticks don't age as well as nail polish, sadly.

Baby tapir getting scritches for their itches.

If you want to scritch your very own tapir & you live outside of Central or South America or SE Asia, you'll need to visit a zoo.

But these little guys are (evolutionarily) from around here, in North America. Let's talk about it.

Birthday month treat day 4: more nail polish from eBay! 2 bottles of L'Oreal nail polish in pale peach. Love the color, have worn it for 10 or 12 years, and of course, it's no longer made.

Birthday month treat day 3 (fell asleep last night before I posted this): a Pilates Toning Ring suggested by my old PT to strengthen my leg muscles to - I hope - make my knees hurt less.

That's beautiful! Love the colors! You can tie it, or put a button, or wear it with the point in front, or criss-cross the points on the shoulder and pin it - so many options.

As bad as cigarette smoke. New housekeeper helper reeks - I can smell her when she comes into the downstairs mud room; she swears she quit smoking months ago. I disagree!

Finally learned an easy way to wear a triangular shawl easily all day - don't laugh, I'm sure every other knitter knows this! I like to wear shawls like cardigans, here's how. Drape it over my shoulders with a bit of a collar, overlap fronts a bit, and use a pin or shawl pin to hold it closed. Done!

Body let me get to sleep about 4:45 am, and I got about 3.5 hours. It's a bit light but my only obligation is playing mah jongg and they understand about this - we've all got something!

I have enough yarn (at last inventory before we moved 6+ years ago) to knit more than 100 adult sweaters and 200 pairs of socks. I still buy the special yarn because tastes change. We won't talk about fabric, embroidery stuff, beads, books, etc. If it makes one happy it's necessary. No guilt.
