You have converted me into a limpet fan. Thank you.
I personally really like that idea. What gets done in the class is ultimately up to the students. Students choose their collaborators and discuss the intended audience with their collaborator. Also, we previously worked with @nicoleackermans.com on a comic about head injury! ππ§
I have dreams of running a summer program for amphibious folks like us, but that dream may need to wait until after tenure. π
The undermining of public trust in science continues. Scientific funding is being squeezed and subject to censorship. Come practice your science communication skills and collaborate with a fellow curious and creative human to share your science. π
All countries, scientific fields (yes social science too!), and career stages eligible. Limited to those actively engaged in research or recent grads. A major goal here is to provide art and design students with a glimpse behind-the-scenes of research.

Back in stock! Prompted by @hudrewthis.bsky.social is an essay about AI in the classroom and the importance of curiosity and learning in the time of LLMs! www.radiatorcomics.com/shop/uncateg...
Excited to help bring this to New England graphic medicine creators!
While this zine does feature snippets of genAI material for educational purposes, everything else was created by me on my office floor, couch, and in the occasional cafe.
'Prompted' reflects on how every student is inimitable and what educators can do to keep them engaged. It also features sugar glider teeth, family group chats, and giant (genAI) rat genitalia.
Front cover. A ball and stick model of a neural network sends its output arrow through Caroline's head. Caroline is sitting at her desk in front of her laptop. She is represented with her eyeball persona. Text says "Prompted. An educator's response to generative AI in the classroom. Caroline Hu, PhD."
Interior spread. Caroline is standing in front of a giant chalkboard. Students are at their desks. Text says: "Welcome to biology class at an art and design college. Why teach science here? Because artists help us make sense of the universe. Because designers help us envision futures."
Interior spread. Two abstract strands wind together, kind of like a helix.
Interior spread. A visualization of the thought experiment, "The Chinese Room", as proposed by John Searle circa 1980.
First day of the academic year! Fitting time to announce that my visual essay, Prompted, about learning in the time of LLMs, is now available to buy from @radiatorcomics.bsky.social
