In this case, there are many things that qualify as gender-affirming care that you would do first before even reaching for things like puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy, or sex reassignment surgery.

For me personally, the thing that got me onboard with trans care was the mental health care argument. The fact that yes, Gender Dysphoria is a mental disorder, and mental disorders need to be treated with the most effective care.

This line of argumentation doesn't work, and I'm saying this as a conservative who was once anti-trans. If you frame the issue as "let people do what they want" you basically concede it as not being important, and then they sink their teeth in with the grooming arguments, stuff like that.

Conservatives wage a whole culture war just to agree with the treatment in the first place, lol
