With news of more games media layoffs, this seems like a good time to share my Indie Games Media starter kit — it’s more important than ever that readers directly support their favourite publications and writers.
Rev. Jesse Jackson's "I *am* somebody..." remains one of the all-time great pieces of 20th century rhetoric / agitprop
And he could deliver it at a Black separatist meeting, the Democratic National Convention, or on god-blessed Sesame Street (see below 🥹)
RIP to the Voice of the Voiceless
Folks, I don't know how to tell you this.
But you don't HAVE to be weird about video games.
You can just be a normal human about them. I swear. You can do it. I believe in you. Yes, even YOU.
In solidarity with today's ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA blackout, MinnMax is donating $1 to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota for every share of this Bluesky post for the next hour.

Damn, even Sesame Street is scoring off me
You cannot overstate how startling it is to see a politician just say the thing with clarity and poise. No fearful hemming. No overwrought qualifying down til it’s meaningless. No lingering sense that there is a loyalty to a donor class or an ideology of stasis that they’d never admit to.
Here’s the thing about capitalism: it’s about finding holes in the market and making profit by providing a solution to existing problems and untapped spenders. Leveraging your company on a solution that doesn’t have a problem and then complaining isn’t even good capitalism.
Jisho has long been an incredibly valuable website for learning Japanese - huge range of definitions, well sourced, and no ads. It's an honor that my silly little slang dictionary is now part of it. Can't wait for the full launch of the new version (plz bring back the dark background Kimtaro 🙏🙏🙏🥺🥺🥺)
read @ethangach.bsky.social's interview with the founders of @mothership.blog, a new gaming site from very cool people launching later this month that will put identity front and center. i'm stoked. kotaku.com/mothership-i...
She is aggressively trying to turn the wheel AWAY from the ICE agent. It is her very last action. They provoke her, surround her, then kill her in cold blood. I have barely slept since this happened and I don't think I'll ever stop being angry about this.
I saw this video of a Vietnam vet in the fur coat yelling at ICE and thought to myself, "this is missing something," before I realized, "Ah, of course, the Ether instrumental. It's so obvious."
The extent to which Games Done Quick has helped to steer the larger speedrunning community - one of the most hardcore video game enthusiast subcultures there is - into becoming something so welcoming, inclusive and supportive astonishes me
Again, to every videogame writer who wrote funny emails to read in an immersive sim/etc. where I rolled my eyes and said out loud, "lol like anyone would ever email something this on the nose", again, sorry, I was wrong, life sucks, you nailed it
Complaints about modern RPGs "forcing romance" into them always remind me of those studies where guys have to estimate the ratio of men/women in a room or how long men/women speak in a meeting: Grossly overestimating the actual %age and showing their discomfort When A Thing Is Not Always About Them
many uses for this, allegedly
Cosigned a thousand times, Nadia. Well said.
I never liked Keighley, but I never DISliked him until now. He's just a spoiled child. As long as people like him muscle their way into being the voice for video games, this pastime will never get over its perception as a hobby for manchildren.
The decline of third spaces and hangouts, such as malls, video rental places, arcades & skate parks has been a direct result of the rise of convenience and has also been objectively bad for society as a whole. Its not that everyone HAS to socialize, but having no option to without bars is a failing.

New to FFT? Ivalice Chronicles has a ton of nice QOL stuff, but here's a thread of some things that newer players might not know, and things that it would be useful TO know!
